After Sean Hannity said something something about the climate policies presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden introduced today, he made an exceptionally inelegant segue into… Hillary Clinton making excuses for losing in 2016.
… except in the clip he showed, from Clinton’s interview yesterday with The Daily Show host Trevor Noah, Clinton never even addressed the 2016 election.
Hannity unilaterally dismissed Biden’s goal of having 100% clean energy production in the US by 2035, saying that oil, gas and coal would all go away.
Then in came a major non sequitur. A hard right turn. A drop like Wile E. Coyote off a cliff.
Hannity said, “This comes as Hillary Clinton is pushing herself back into the spotlight with more insane conspiracy theories–she’s come up with more lame excuses about why she lost than anybody in the history of politics. Take a look.”
He then cut to the Noah interview with Clinton:
NOAH: Is there part of you that’s worried that Donald Trump will be able to use any of those stories to try to undermine the entire election and say, “You see, there’s that one and that one. I don’t think we should trust this election at all because it says that I’ve lost.”
CLINTON: Well, I think it is, um, a fair point to raise as to whether or not, if he loses, um, he’s going to go quietly or not, and we have to be ready for that.
Not a word about 2016. Nor anything about an excuse as to why Clinton lost the Electoral College even though she won the popular vote by 3 million votes.
Hannity then came back on: “Okay, they floated that same conspiracy theory in 2016. She lost miserably.”
So according to Hannity, in 2016, Clinton was floating a conspiracy theory that Trump wouldn’t leave the Oval Office even if he lost the election and the Electoral College.
Am I missing something here?
