William Bryan Jr., the man who recording the murder of Black jogger Ahmaud Arbery in a Georgia suburb, is to be held without bond until trial, a judge ordered today according to reporting by CNN.
Arbrey was jogging through a gated community outside Brunswick, Georgia when he was chased by two men, father and son Gregory McMichael and Travis McMichael. Bryan, who claims he was working on his front porch when he noticed the McMichaels chasing Arbery, joined in the pursuit, reportedly directing Arbrey back into the neighborhood as he tried to escape.
Bryan pulled his cell phone out and recording the final confrontation the McMichaels had with Arbrey, including the moments when the unarmed Arbrey was shot three times.
Bryan faces charges of criminal criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment and felony murder. The McMichaels are charged with felony murder, malice, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment according to the grand jury indictment.
The judge held Bryan without bail citing his lack of employment and his flight risk. Bryan’s son asked the judge to release Bryan on bond, saying his father was no risk to the community.
