Nearly half of the players on the Marlins roster tested positive for coronavirus, Major League Baseball has announced that the team’s season will be suspended and the league is trying to rework a schedule for the other teams, AP reports.
Prior to today’s announcement about four more players’ positive tests, the league had announced that nine players on the roster and two reserve players had tested positive, as did two coaches.
The Marlins are staying in Philadelphia because that’s where their players tested positive on Sunday. None of the Philadelphia Phillies players have tested positive as of yet.
The Phillies mid-week series against the New York Yankees has been postponed. Instead, the Yankees will travel to Baltimore to play the Orioles this week. The Orioles were originally scheduled to play the Marlins.
