Forty-seven year old Jason Copenhaver spit on a teenager who was wearing a mask at a Treasure Island, Florida restaurant and told him, “You now have coronavirus,” WTVT Fox 13 in Tampa Bay reports.
Copenhaver reportedly walked up to the teen, who was wearing a mask and sitting at a table, and asked to shake the boy’s hand. When the teen refused, Copenhaver grabbed him by the arm and pulled him close enough to spit on him.
Drunk and not wearing shoes, Copenhaver then walked into the bar area of the restaurant where he was instructed by an employee to sit down. As someone called the police, Copenhaver then attempted to strike the employee, who ejected Copenhaver from the restaurant and restrained him until police arrived.
Police charged Copenhaver with simple battery and disorderly conduct. Police say Copenhaver told them he didn’t know if he had coronavirus and has never been tested for the disease.
