The Wisconsin election commission on Thursday ruled Kanye West's election paperwork was filed late, and voted five to one to remove him from the state's ballot as a presidential candidate in the November election.
After an excruciating, two-and-half-hour long back and forth over minute issues of whether or not 5:00:59 is still "no later than 5pm" as stipulated in the state election laws for submission for ballot petitions, the six member board of commissioners voted. Republican Commissioner Robert Spindell whined "When are they going to quit suppressing the Black vote? … What's next in trying to suppress the Black choice?" and voted against the removal. The other two Republican commissioners cited precedent and voted along with the Democrats for removing Kanye West off the ballot. The motion is carried and Kanye West will not be a candidate for president in the state of Wisconsin in the 2020 election.
