A large plexiglass shield will separate Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris from her incumbent republican challenger, Mike Pence, during the Wednesday debate in Salt Lake City, CNN reports.
The Commission on Presidential Debates has made that decision based on the public health issues revolving around the coronavirus and the COVID outbreak impacting the White House.
Pence attended the Rose Garden event held Saturday, September 26th to introduce Amy Coney Barrett as President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court. At least ten people who attended that event have since tested positive for the coronavirus.
Normally, someone who has knowingly been exposed to people who have contracted coronavirus would be isolated for up to 14 days. It’s unclear why Pence is ignoring public health recommendations.
In addition, two key White House staffers–advisor and pants steamer Hope Hicks and Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany–as well as two unnamed Press Office personnel, have tested positive for the coronavirus. None of those people are known to have attended the Rose Garden event.
