Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has announced that Retired Lt. General Russel Honoré will lead a probe into the security of the Capitol Complex after the site was the target of a insurrectionist attack on January 6th.
“I have asked retired Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré to lead an immediate review of security infrastructure, inter-agency processes and command and control,” Pelosi said in a statement Friday morning. “The general is a respected leader wither experience dealing with crisis.”
A Louisiana native, Honoré led the recovery effort in the Gulf Coast after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when the immediate Bush Administration left tens of thousands stranded for days. Honoré led the ensuing effort to clean up and repair the region, restoring vital services after the hurricane killed nearly 2,000 people.
