Fox News notified a Political Action Committee Friday that it would not run the group’s ad planned for Sunday about the violence Capitol Police and other law enforcement officers endured during the January 6th domestic terrorist attack on the Capitol.
The Los Angeles Times (via Yahoo) reports Fox News did not provide any explanation for why the ad would not be run, nor did they provide any suggestions for how to make the ad compliant with network guidelines.
“We couldn’t have fathomed in our wildest imaginations that even a Fox News would reject an ad that simply condemns the insurrection, and condemns people who support the insurrection,” said Ben Meiselas, one of the co-founders of MeidasTouch, the liberal Political Action Committee that created the 60-second ad. The ad features testimony and stories from law enforcement officials who were injured by insurrectionists. It included an account of DC Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, who was tased during the attack and suffered multiple heart attacks.
MeidasTouch paid more than $185,000 to purchase the airtime on Fox News, close to premium costs when the network is typically getting sub-prime rates from other advertisers.
