British defense officials have assessed the Russian military has been “significantly weakened” in the ten weeks since the invasion of Ukraine began, the Evening Standard reports. “Failures both in strategic planning and operational execution have left it unable to translate numerical strength into decisive advantage,” the Ministry of Defence chiefs said in an intelligence briefing on Tuesday, adding “Russia’s military is now significantly weaker, both materially and conceptually, as a result of its invasion of Ukraine. Recovery from this will be exacerbated by sanctions. This will have a lasting impact on Russia’s ability to deploy conventional military force.” The UK MOD estimates 15,000 Russian troops have been killed and many more wounded in Ukraine since the invasion began.
