A new survey by The Bulwark and North Star Opinion Research of Republican voters finds 28 percent of respondents saying they would vote for disgraced former President Trump in the 2024 general election if he were to lose the primary and run as a third-party candidate against Joe Biden and the Republican nominee, an absolutely catastrophic possibility for the GOP.
On the question of the Republican primary itself, DeSantis leads Trump in the head-to-head at 52 to 30 percent, versus a generic “another candidate” at 44 to 28 percent, and in a full field at 39 to 28 percent with Mike Pence in third at 9 percent, Nimrata Haley and Liz Cheney at 4 percent each, and five others not even named at 1 percent each, plus 13 percent undecided.
