King Felipe of Spain, Queen Letizia, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and Valencia regional Governor Carlos Mazon were pelted with eggs and angry insults from the royal subjects during a visit to the area devastated by recent flooding that left more than 200 people dead, CNN reports.
Most of the anger and egging was actually mostly directed at Sanchez and Mazon with the two royals – who are relatively popular in the country – collateral damage in the outrage. Felipe and Letizia hugged the locals and spoke them directly while the politicians ran away from the scene.
