Hardcore MAGA New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has all but officially secured her party’s nomination to take on incumbent Dem Governor Kathy Hochul next November, Fox News reports in a glowing article about the rock solidity of Stef’s support in the grimy, arcane, 19th century-relic system that continues to dominate the Empire State’s political culture, a consolidation that Fox writes “leaves Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman with virtually no path to the nomination.”
Yup, the stereotypical “cigar-smoke-filled backrooms” have stubbed out their Cohibas on a pic of Blakeman and made their call, as he got no traction outside of Long Island’s two counties. He’s simply screwed and Elise Stefanik’s on a glide path to the 2026 GOP gubernatorial nomination.
“We appreciated Executive Blakeman meeting with us during his visit Upstate, but nothing discussed impacted our unwavering support for Elise Stefanik and her campaign to save New York. Elise has consistently delivered for our Upstate communities, and we trust she’s the right person to tackle the challenges New Yorkers face,” said Schenectady County Republican chair Liz Joy, further emphasizing how the only state Blakey could be the GOP gubernatorial nominee of is Loserdom.
“Elise is honored to have earned endorsements from 58 GOP county party chairs representing over 75 percent of the New York Republican Party’s weighted vote at the convention,” Stefanik spokesperson Bernadette Breslin told Fox in a triumphal statement, adding “According to two independent polls, Elise is the strongest candidate against Hochul and has the highest name ID and most favorable polling. Her strong support across the state only continues to grow as she earns more endorsements from prominent GOP leaders, including 40 out of New York’s 45 Conservative Party organizations. New York Republicans are wholly united behind the common goal of firing Kathy Hochul to save New York, and they have entrusted their full confidence in Elise to do so.”
The bottom line is that Elise crushed it. It’s over. She’s a winner. Fox News further frosts the cake with “Blakeman’s electoral record has also become a talking point among Republican officials who describe Stefanik as a proven winner. Over the course of his multi-decade political career, Blakeman has lost a state comptroller race by more than 30 points in 1998, a Nassau Legislature race in 1999, dropped out of the 2009 New York City mayoral contest, lost a 2010 US Senate primary by more than 20 points and lost a 2014 congressional race in NY-14, the same year Stefanik won her seat.”
“Stefanik, by contrast, has never lost an election and raises annually what Blakeman has raised over multiple cycles,” they then write before finally kind of sort of hinting at what comes after the nomination reaches the forgone conclusion, as in the actual general election with “Early unity around Stefanik could allow Republicans to focus resources on the general election well ahead of schedule, a rare advantage for GOP candidates in deep blue New York.” To be fair it was already a pretty long article about how the primary’s already over and Stefanik crushed the only rival who had any chance whatsoever, which didn’t leave a lot of room for more on how the general election’s going to go.
That said, a truly “fair and balanced” news outlet would give similar coverage to similarly dominant Democratic contenders like Idaho real estate agent David Roth, currently leading the uncontested Potato State Dem primary to take on three-term incumbent Republican Senator Jim Risch next year.
Early unity around Roth – who has $284.80 cash on hand – could allow Dems to focus resources on the general election well ahead of schedule, a rare advantage for blue candidates in deep red Idaho.
