Singapore’s government on Friday announced a crackdown on fraud and the buttcheeks of those convicted of fraud through new enhanced corporal punishment penalties of up to 24 strokes of a cane while those convicted of aiding fraud face up to 12 strokes, the AP reports.
The small city state’s Home Affairs Ministry said the enhanced punishments “ensure that our criminal laws remain effective, fair, and responsive to emerging challenges… Fighting scams is a top national priority. The number of scam cases and scam losses remain concerning.”
