Dem New Mexico Senator Benny Ray Lujan will run unopposed in November’s general election after Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver ruled that Lujan’s would-be Republican opponent Christopher Vanden Heuvel had not turned in the minimum amount of signatures on his ballot access petition, the Albuquerque Journal reports. The same fate befell Republican Carlton Pennington in the 1st Congressional District race, Republican gov hopeful Belinda Robertson, and Dem Thomas Wakely, who had launched a primary challenge against 2nd District Dem Gabe Vasquez.
