Let there be no further questions about Donald Trump’s electoral legitimacy as President of the United States – and not in terms of whether or not he won the 2016 or 2024 elections. He won them fair and square electorally, emphasizing electorally because both bids were crime sprees with all sorts of scams, one of which from the first bid got him convicted of 34 felonies. But overall legitimacy, as leader of the United States government and military, as capable of making decisions that affect the entire world, as mentally and emotionally in control of himself enough to do the incredibly difficult job at nearly 80 years old? No, he’s not legitimate, at all, and his presidencies should in the future be retroactively declared vacancies of office, with all bills he signed, appointments made, and so on rendered null and void due to the incapacities displayed in this interview. It’s undoubtedly the worst in American history by a sitting president.
NBC published a lengthy fact check that wasn’t lengthy enough:
Trump was also pressed by Welker on his campaign pledge not to start any new wars.
“I didn’t guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?” Trump said. “I built our military.”
But Trump repeatedly promised as a candidate that he would not start new wars if elected.
Trump said while campaigning in Pennsylvania in 2024: “I will not send you to fight and die in stupid foreign wars that never end. I will not send our sons and daughters to go fight for a war in a country that you’ve never heard of. We’re not going to do it. We’re going to bring our troops home, and we’re going to focus on America First.”
And in his November 2024 victory speech, Trump said: “I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars.”
The fact check is approximately 1,632 words long.
