You will not be surprised to learn that the MAGAverse’s latest Hunter Biden “evidence”, the “$49,910 monthly rent to Joe,” turns out to be a load of bullshit, according to a new Washington Post report.

Best we can summarize what actually happened is this: In 2018 Hunter had an assistant fill out a rental application for a luxury apartment complex in Los Angeles. The assistant listed Joe Biden’s Wilmington home as the “current address” and “Owasco PC” the name of a company he owns as the “current residence” for some reason. The assistant wrote “$49,910” under the “monthly rent” field for Owasco PC. That figure was not the amount Hunter was paying to live at Owasco PC, but what Owasco PC was paying quarterly to rent office space at the Swedish House, a property in the Georgetown area of DC, also home to the Swedish Embassy to the United States.
The rental application (found on Hunter’s laptop hard drive, of course) made the rounds on MAGA media earlier this week “proving” Hunter had actually paid $49,910 to Joe to live at the Biden house in Wilmington. Breitbart and the Daily Caller ended up retracting/correcting their articles on it later in the week, but what the hell does that matter when they already got the clicks from the original versions? The story wasn’t “Hey this is pretty fucking weird, check this out” it was “OMG HUNTER PAID JOE $49,910 A MONTH TO LIVE AT HIS HOUSE!!!11!! THAT’S SO CORRUPT!!!11!!”
In reality the Hunter Biden saga is dull and difficult to parse. The lack of attention to the finer details that are boring and needlessly complicated creates this tabula rasa in which the fanboys run wild with all sorts of fantasies in which Hunter is a white collar criminal mastermind who acts as a conduit for his father to enrich himself. It’s still early and we can’t dismiss the possibility that MAGA world will use their new Congressional investigation powers to find the “facts” to generate a scandal that actually resonates with independent voters, but we’re also now entering the fourth year of Hunterghazi. Since then Joe Biden was elected President of the United States, the Dems won the Senate majority, then increased it, and lost the House by just a handful of seats.
It’s also been over two years since Hunter’s laptop was “discovered.” That a moronic misreading of this convoluted and incompetently filled out rental application is the best MAGAmerica can come up with does not augur well for Republicans turning the President’s crackhead son into any more of a political liability than he was in October 2020. At what point does Hunterghazi become any more than a “base maintenance” circlejerk to keep Republican voters feeling like they’re “winning”?
