A Texas man on a date who learned from a restaurant employee that he paid $40 to a guy running a parking lot scam returned to his car to retrieve a gun, shot the scammer to death and then returned to his date, the Associated Press reports.
Police say 46-year-old Elliot Nix approached Erick Aguirre and his date at a parking lot by the Rodeo Goat restaurant in Houston saying it cost $20 for each of their cars, which Aguirre paid. In the restaurant, the 29-year-old Aguirre was told by a restaurant employee that Nix did not work for the parking lot and that he had been scammed. Aguirre excused himself and left his date waiting for a table while he went to his car, retrieved a gun, and then chased down and shot Nix on April 11th.
Aguirre returned to Rodeo Goat and waited for a few minutes before suggesting he and his date go to another restaurant, to which they had to drive. Aguirre’s date contacted police after seeing photos of the couple in the parking lot in the media asking for information about the shooting.
