Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe has rescinded his previous command that members of the intel cease in-person briefings on election security for Congressional intelligence committees, Reuters reports.
Late last month, Ratcliffe announced that Congress would no longer receive in-person briefing, instead opting to give a short written summaries to the committees. Ratcliffe stated that this was to cut down on leaks of information; however, republican Senator Marco Rubio stated that the intelligence committee he chairs would continue to receive the in-person briefings.
Ratcliffe announced that the full Congress would not receive in-person briefings, limiting the briefings to the intel committees.
“To protect sources and methods, the IC will not provide all-member briefings, but we will work to provide appropriate updates primarily through written finished intelligence products,” Ratcliffe said.
