The Supreme Court is scheduled to release its decisions on two key cases related to President Trump’s tax returns tomorrow, potentially leading the way to release Trump and the Trump Organization’s financial information to state and/or federal investigators.
Thursday marks the last day of the Court’s session, which was characterized by the first-ever telephonic arguments to the Court, made necessarily by the coronavirus. All outstanding decisions from the session will be released Thursday, so phone alerts may be frequent.
The two cases that revolve around Trump’s taxes involve subpoenas from Congress and the State of New York, which were looking into financial agreements and obligations, particularly with foreign financial entities.
The State of New York is also investigating Trump’s financing regarding payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, who received payments from the Trump Organization, funnelled through Trump attorney Michael Cohen, for her silence about an extramarital affair.
Although the decisions are unknown, most legal pundits believe the Court may split their decisions, upholding the subpoenas from one party but quashing it from the other.
