A release distributed Tuesday from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy declared “ending the COVID-19 pandemic” as the top accomplishment of the Trump Administration.
The press release was distributed as the seven-day moving averages of cases increased for the 35th consecutive day and the number of COVID-related fatalities topped 226,000.
Asked by Alisyn Camerota on CNN’s “New Day” Wednesday morning about the listing of the “ending the COVID-19 pandemic” as one of the accomplishments of the Trump Administration, Trump Campaign spokesman Hogan Gidley brushed off the statement.
“I don’t know how they’re using the word ‘ending’,” Gidley said. “I’m not going to quibble about semantics.”
Gidley asked why Joe Biden hasn’t called the governors of the states to urge them to mandate mask wearing, as he said he would do when he’s elected president. For the record, Joe Biden is not yet President of the United States.
Gidley went on to tout Trump’s pre-pandemic jobs numbers and international trade deals, saying that the media is focusing too much on the suffering of Americans from COVID to support Trump’s claims that the media will not cover COVID after the November 3rd election.
