For the sixth consecutive day, the US has logged more than 100,000 new confirmed coronavirus cases, and this happens five days after outgoing president Donald Trump claimed we would no longer hear about the coronavirus.
According to the COVID Tracking Project, the US registered more than 118,000 cases Monday, along with nearly 400 fatalities. Another aggregator, from Johns Hopkins, put the nation over 10 million total cases since the pandemic began.
Illinois and Texas led the nation with more than 10,000 new cases on Monday. The seven-day moving average of cases for the nation surpassed 117,000.
Additionally, the number of people hospitalized with coronavirus jumped another 4% to 59,275, predicting an increasing number of cases and fatalities in coming days as the curve continues upward. The US has not had that number hospitalized with coronavirus since July 25th.
