The campaign of outgoing president Donald Trump has dumped a major part of its lawsuits to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters in Pennsylvania, the Washington Post reports.
Trump’s lawyers abandoned the claim that up to 600,000 votes should be invalidated because observers were not allowed to stand over counters at the ballot tallying locations. The Trump campaign has falsely stated publicly that their campaign observers were not allowed in the locations, but in court, Trump lawyers have admitted to having observers at all counting locations.
The current focus of the lawsuit is that some Democratic-leaning counties in the state allowed voters to correct errors on their ballots. While Republican-leaning counties could have allowed the same practice, Trump claims this was an unfair advantage to Democrats.
This complaint would only result in a small number of ballots being challenged, not nearly enough to overturn the 68,000 vote lead President-elect Joe Biden holds in the state.
