Georgia’s state election board has extended two emergency measures designed to make vote processing easier used in the November election to apply to the January Senate runoff elections, the Atlanta Constitution Journal reports.
The measures allow for county boards of elections to use ballot drop boxes and also allow, but not mandate, local election officials to process mail-in ballots prior to the date of the election.
Georgia is holding two simultaneous runoff elections for its two Senate seats. In one, incumbent Republican Kelly Loeffler faces Democrat Raphael Warnock. In the other Republican David Perdue is running for reelection against Democrat Jon Ossoff.
