The United States saw nearly 200,000 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus Friday, according to the COVID Tracking Project, the 23rd consecutive day recording more than 100,000 cases.
The day also marked more than 13 million coronavirus cases, according to the Johns Hopkins University coronavirus tracker. It took less than one week to amass one million cases in the nation.
State data is not consistent over the holiday weekend, but per Worldometers, California was the only state to log more than 10,000 cases Friday. Michigan also led the US with 187 fatalities, with Florida and Minnesota topping 100.
