Evidently having realized that the “you need to show ID to use your Olive Garden Never-Ending Pasta Pass” line had only so much mileage in it as a pitch for the still-stalled SAVE America Act, Virginia MAGA Congressman John McGuire on Thursday floated to Newsmax viewers a new, more politically relevant one with “you can’t go to the Obama museum without a photo ID,” therefore the Senate GOP should abolish the filibuster and pass the draconian bill that imposes significantly more burdens on American voters than simply having to show a driver’s license before casting a ballot.
The invocation calls into question why the Olive Garden one went first since, well, it’s Barack Obama’s presidential library. That last month management told Snopes that “The Obama Presidential Center’s campus is free and accessible to all without a photo ID. The only ticketed area of the campus is the four floors of the museum. No ID required to get into the museum, unless you want the discounted rate for Illinois residents or the Illinois free day” and thus McGuire is full of shit doesn’t matter. It’s simply more effective than Olive Garden and there’s no good reason why the party as a whole hasn’t been sticking with acting as though the Illinois resident discount nuance represents the entirety of the Center’s entry policy. It’s not like the Newsmax lady fact-checked him or anything.
Nor did she question whether McGuire is off his meds when he claimed that ivermectin would have been a more effective ingredient for the COVID vax than fetus body parts.
