As of Thursday at 8 p.m., the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus tracker registered 292,091 fatalities in the US since the coronavirus pandemic was identified in the nation at the end of January, just 11 months ago.
In the four years the United States fought World War II, 291,557 soldiers, sailors and Marines were killed in combat, according to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
