More than 15 hours after the death of Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis was announced, President Donald Trump finally acknowledged the passing of a man who has been mourned around the nation.
Saddened to hear the news of civil rights hero John Lewis passing. Melania and I send our prayers to he and his family.

Before posting this tweet this 23-word tribute, complete with a characteristic grammatical error, Trump managed to find the time to finish a round of golf at his Virginia course.
A Congressman from Georgia, Lewis died last night at the age of 80 after fighting pancreatic cancer.
