“A nearly five-hour racially charged standoff ended Sunday with an Akron SWAT team firing tear gas into a Brittain Road apartment building and hauling off a middle-aged white man in a police van” reports the Akron Beacon Journal.
“At 2:20 p.m. Sunday, a small army of police officers escorted Dwayne Keller, 60, out of his second-floor apartment on charges of aggravated menacing, a fifth-degree felony, and ethnic intimidation. Witnesses and victims shared video with the Beacon Journal that showed Keller yelling the N-word and ‘Black boy’ at two African American men working on a car in the parking lot directly below Keller’s balcony.”
“The victims and their family said they called police when Keller cocked a handgun and draped a Confederate flag over the railing of his balcony on the south side of Fred W. Nimmer Place, which is managed by Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority.”
