As more advertisers pull their spending from Facebook, the Trump campaign has spent nearly $300,000 on the platform in a little more than two weeks.
The catch: the money’s been used to promote the campaign social media pages of candidates Trump and Pence… and the social media page of Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, according to reporting by the New York Times.
Parscale has used these new funds to boost his personal social media profile, increasing the number of followers and views on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, thereby developing his own brand. His number of Instagram followers has increased 10% in two weeks.
While it claims Parscale does not personally benefit financially from such ad buys, the campaign states that such buys will expand to include Donald J. Trump, Jr. and campaign strategist Katrina Pierson.
