A second high school in Cherokee County, Georgia will close until August 31st as 14 students were confirmed to have coronavirus, the Atlanta Constitution Journal reports. Fifteen additional students are awaiting their coronavirus test results.
Cherokee County Schools announced that 289 students and staff from Woodstock High School were under quarantine. This comes a day after the school district closed Etowah High School after 14 students there tested positive, prompting the school district to close the school until the end of the month.
Currently, Cherokee County Schools have more than 1,100 students and 37 staff quarantined.
Despite Georgia Governor Brian Kemp saying that the opening of the state’s schools “went real well” except for photographs of crowded school hallways going public, Georgia has had a number of schools re-close due to infections.
North Paulding High School, the school where the photo of the crowded hallways was taken, remained closed after three staff members and six students tested positive for the coronavirus.
