Former Houston police captain Anthony Aguirre, arrested exactly one year ago over a bizarre October 19th, 2020 incident in which he held an HVAC repairman at gunpoint, accusing him of driving a truck full of fraudulent ballots around, was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on charges of aggravated assault, KHOU reports. Aguirre, who on the day after the incident received a wire transfer of $211,400 for his “services” from a group called Liberty Center for God and Country, had surveilled the unnamed victim for days prior to the incident, but it is unclear why the repairman had aroused their suspicions of being part of some master plot to steal the election from Trump (It’s also unclear why Aguirre is being indicted by a grand jury for the very same charges he was arrested and booked on a year ago, or why it took nearly two months for police to arrest him).
