Rupert Murdoch-owned newspapers the Wall Street Journal and the New York Post were hit with a cyberattack allegedly originating from China that exposed employees’ emails and documents, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing cybersecurity firm Mandiant’s assessment. “Mandiant assesses that those behind this activity have a China nexus, and we believe they are likely involved in espionage activities to collect intelligence to benefit China’s interests,” said Mandiant VP of incident response David Wong. Why Fox News wasn’t also hit is unclear and disappointing.
