Vivek Murthy, a former US Surgeon General, says the US has talent, knowledge and technology to address the coronavirus pandemic, “but what we’re missing is leadership,” lambasting Trump for minimizing the coronavirus making wearing a mask a political statement.
Dr. Murthy talked about how Biden listens to experts in briefings, letting science guide his decisions, not politics.
He also related a personal story, of when Biden met his family during a trip to Washington, DC. “Thank you for choosing us, the United States of America, as the place you trust with your family,” Biden said to Murthy’s grandmother who had emigrated to the United States.
Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin related the problems she had getting private health insurance because she had a pre-existing condition. She said the Affordable Care Act was a savior to people like her, who wouldn’t have any options if it wasn’t for Obamacare.
