The Washington Post has a Saturday morning bombshell exclusive that a hot mic picked up Florida Republican Congressman and reputed child sex trafficker Matt Gaetz telling Trump dirty trickster and general scumbag Roger Stone that he would not “do a day” in prison if he didn’t turn on Donald Trump.
At an October 2019 event at a Trump property, a hot mic on a video of the pair caught Gaetz telling Stone that he’d likely be found guilty of the obstruction charges and other crimes he was facing regarding his lies, misstatements and omissions to the Mueller investigation probing Russian involvement in the 2016 election and Trump’s efforts to block that investigation. But, Gaetz said, Stone shouldn’t worry because Trump would grant him clemency if Stone didn’t turn on Trump.
Gaetz explicitly stated that he heard from Trump that Trump would not let Stone be punished for his acts, an overt act of obstruction of justice and witness tampering on the parts of both Gaetz and Trump. “They’re going to do you, because you’re not gonna have a defense,” Gaetz told Stone, acknowledging that the evidence against Stone was overwhelming.
“The boss still has a very favorable view of you,” said Gaetz, stressing that the president had “said it directly.” Gaetz also said, “I don’t think the big guy can let you go down for this.” In further evidence that Gaetz knew what he was saying would be considered obstruction, he stated that he didn’t want to say more in a pubic venue: “Since there are many, many recording devices around right now, I do not feel in a position to speak freely about the work I’ve already done on that subject.”
Ever the idiot, Stone had the conversation while wearing a lapel microphone while he had a Danish documentary film crew following him. Only a bigger idiot like Gaetz would not have noticed the microphone.
The fact that Gaetz sits on the House Judiciary Committee and was relaying the information to a witness the Committee was trying to get to testify about various actions regarding the 2016 election should not sit favorably with the Republican Party, even as corrupt as it is. It demonstrates a level brash disdain for Congressional oversight that would lead the American public to dismiss all claims by the GOP about the findings of Congressional committees, given they’re actively encouraging material witnesses to block investigations into crimes, thereby making their entire Party accessories after the fact.
