Saki Air Base goes up in flames
This fell by our wayside amid the Mar-a-Lago shitshow, but Ukrainian saboteurs apparently infiltrated a Russian airbase in occupied Crimea on Tuesday, and blew up as many as nine planes in a surprise attack that the Kremlin embarrassingly called the result of “poor fire safety,” and led to a mass exodus of Russian vacationers. Crimea, a Black Sea peninsula which was forcibly annexed in 2014 by Russia (though it had been historically Russian territory and in 1954 was transferred from Russia to Ukraine internally within the USSR), was considered mostly removed from the war and the airbase sits more than 150 miles from the frontlines of battle.
