People on Twitter will see a prompt prior to liking or sharing labeled tweets, and in cases where there is potential for harm associated with the false or misleading claim, the Tweet may not be liked or shared to prevent the spread of the misleading information,” says a Thursday corporate blog post from Twitter. This of course is the kind of shit that drives right wingers particularly insane, and why they thought Elon Musk was their savior as he would’ve done away with such measures entirely, leaving them free to spread whatever hateful fake shit they wanted.

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Twitter is by far our most valuable resource for this site. It’s how we’ve been able to deliver (a lot of) the biggest breaking news faster than the other guys – either we saw it ourselves or a reader posted a tweet in a comment. You can say it’s been a detriment on society otherwise, particularly in how it fueled Trump’s rise, but in 2022 it is the fire that powers our engine. And at least they fucking try to keep it clean now in contrast to Facebook, who reportedly are deliberately allowing the MAGA bullshit to flow freely this year.
