Dem Florida Congresswoman indicted for FEMA funds scam

“A federal grand jury in Miami has returned an indictment charging Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and several co-defendants with stealing federal disaster funds, laundering the proceeds, and using the money to support her 2021 congressional campaign. According to the indictment, Cherfilus-McCormick, 46, and her brother Edwin Cherfilus, 51, both of Miramar, worked through their family health-care company on a FEMA-funded COVID vaccination staffing contract in 2021.”

“In July 2021, the company received an overpayment of $5 million in FEMA funds. The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to steal that $5 million and routed it through multiple accounts to disguise its source. Prosecutors allege that a substantial portion of the misappropriated funds was used as candidate contributions to Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign and for the personal benefit of the defendants,” says a Justice Department press release.

So yeah, you heard of how James Comey, Letitia James, and Dem New Jersey Congresswoman LaMonica McIver have been indicted for bullshit reasons? Yeah this isn’t one of those situations. The press release is very long and detailed. She and her three accomplices in all likelihood actually did what they’re accused of. The Congresswoman faces 53 years in the joint, her brother 35.

THAT BEING SAID, is there any fucking reason whatsoever to believe that Cherfilus-McCormick would have been indicted for this had she been a Republican? No. None whatsoever. In fact prosecutors were pulled from a not terribly dissimilar corruption case against utterly loathsome Trump ballsucker Tennessee Congressman Andy Ogles before the end of January. It was a pardon in all but name. Both should be nailed to the wall, but only one’s going to prison until she’s fucking 99 years old if convicted at trial (maybe she’s not even being offered a deal). Justice for some.

Second Republican Indiana state senator swatted

“Today, my family and I were victims of a swatting attempt, but local law enforcement officials were quick to analyze it, recognize the report was false and inform me of the attempt. It is scary and shocking to me that someone would go so far to try to cause harm or fear to me or my family.”

“I have always done my best to serve my community, be their voice, and work alongside them and my colleagues at the Statehouse to help make Indiana a great state. It is sad because of these efforts and work that I am villainized in some minds to the point of harmful retaliation. Threats to public officials cannot and should not be the norm. I hope to see justice for this illegal behavior.”

“I appreciate the Highland Police Department, who worked thoroughly to determine that my family and I were safe. I will continue my work and represent Senate District 1 to the best of my ability in the coming legislative session,” says Republican Indiana state Senator Dan Dernulc in a Tuesday statement that doesn’t connect the dots with the why of this swatting but just assumes you know.

Given the context, that it comes three days after his colleague Greg Goode was swatted, it’s obvious enough. We don’t need Goode to tell us it was a MAGA terrorist acting on convicted felon President Trump’s call for Goode, Dernulc, and the others resisting his commands for them to gerrymander one or both Dem Congressional seats in the Hoosier State out of existence.

However it’s plain that the two avoiding such clarity in their statements is a sign that they, probably correctly believe that such honesty would only invite more terrorism on them and their families.

Yes Laura, things are very bad indeed

It’s fair to question whether MAGA-friendly crypto betting circlejerk Polymarket was actually joking with the first tweet, which is still up. They may not have been because they’re not a satire operation.

Laura Loomer however did not get the “joke.” She fell for it, with 100 percent certainty. She would not have deleted it otherwise after at least 78 other Twitter users replied to her to clear things up.

NASA releases pics of interstellar comet 3I/Atlas

“NASA is in the midst of an unprecedented solar system-wide observation campaign, turning its spacecraft and space telescopes to follow comet 3I/ATLAS, the third known interstellar object to pass through our solar system. Twelve NASA assets have captured and processed imagery of the comet since it was first discovered on July 1, and several others will have opportunities to capture more images as the comet continues to pass through our solar system. By observing the comet from so many locations, NASA has an opportunity to learn about the ways that 3I/ATLAS differs from our solar system’s home-grown comets and give scientists a new window into how the compositions of other systems may differ from our own,” said NASA in a press release about the grainy photos that do nothing one way or another for Harvard Professor Avi Loeb’s theories that it’s an alien spaceship.

Cory Mills officially under House Ethics Committee investigation

“In accordance with House Rule XI, clause 3, and Committee Rule 10(a)(2), the Committee voted to establish an Investigative Subcommittee. Pursuant to the Committee’s action, at this time, the Investigative Subcommittee shall have jurisdiction to determine whether Representative Cory Mills violated the Code of Official Conduct or any law, rule, regulation, or other applicable standard of conduct in the performance of his duties or the discharge of his responsibilities, with respect to allegations that he may have: (1) failed to properly disclose required information on statements required to be filed with the House; (2) violated campaign finance laws and regulations in connection with his 2022 and 2024 election campaigns; (3) improperly solicited and/or received gifts, including in connection with privately sponsored officially-connected travel; (4) received special favors by virtue of his position; (5) engaged in misconduct with respect to allegations of sexual misconduct and/or dating violence; and/or (6) misused congressional resources or status. The Committee will announce the Members who will serve on the Investigative Subcommittee once they are selected.”

“The Committee notes that the mere fact of establishing an Investigative Subcommittee does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred. No other public comment will be made on this matter except in accordance with Committee rules. Pursuant to House Rule XI, clause 3(b)(8)(B)(iii), and Committee Rule 17A(f)(1), no documents will be released at this time,” says the committee in a Wednesday press release announcing the domestic abuser’s time in the barrel’s coming.

Recall that over the last two years not-good findings from the committee’s ponderously slow investigations ended the careers of notorious other scumbags George Santos and Matt Gaetz.

President announces incredible new America First policy plan

“Tremendous atrocities are taking place in Sudan. It has become the most violent place on Earth and, likewise, the single biggest Humanitarian Crisis. Food, doctors, and everything else are desperately needed. Arab Leaders from all over the World, in particular the highly respected Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, who has just left the United States, have asked me to use the power and influence of the Presidency to bring an immediate halt to what is taking place in Sudan.”

“It is considered a Great Civilization and Culture, unfortunately gone bad, but one that can be fixed with the cooperation and coordination of Countries, including those in the Region of tremendous Wealth, who want this to happen. We will work with Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and other Middle Eastern partners to get these atrocities to end, while at the same time stabilizing Sudan. Thank you for your attention to this matter. GOD BLESS THE WORLD!” posted President Donald Trump on Wednesday, further solidifying his image as the GOAT when it comes to looking out for regular Americans feeling burned by globalist bullshit and pointless foreign adventurism.

Finally, a leader who gets that people at home are struggling under high prices and feeling left behind by an economy overly focused on tech and finance. Make America Great Again for everyone.

“The strategy now is give Republicans a perceived win so they go back to their districts and say ‘I voted to release the Epstein files'”

In the most limited hangout-y of limited hangouts in all of access journalism, Politico on Monday paid the ferryman and printed a subtle piece of Trump Regime’s tactical retreat spin that the Orange God Emperor “still believes Democrats outplayed the GOP, which is partly why he is so angry with his party and why he tried so hard to prevent the House from voting, said a person close to the White House granted anonymity to discuss the Epstein case,” like we’re all fucking stupid and won’t get it.

This moment, as it played out ahead of what was inevitable then and very much indeed already happened – in fact this morning the Senate formally approved the bill and sent it to the White House for signature – was what amounts to a “sophisticated” play by the regime’s comms office, telling themselves “Heheheh, let’s give ’em the ‘inside scoop’ that Trump’s a mental child who doesn’t like to be told what to do as the ‘real reason’ for his repeated tantrums every time Epstein is mentioned.”

“Oh and we have to include an ‘insider quote’ like ‘The strategy now is give Republicans a perceived win so they can go back to their districts and say I voted to release the Epstein files.’ That’ll make the smug liberal gaytards who read Politico feel like they’re privy to all the stagecraft and kayfabe of DC,” this imaginary internal strategy session in Krazy Karoline’s office continued, finding a silver lining in the neutralization of what would’ve been a major vulnerability for members on the 2026 trail.

Mace’s censure of Mills awful bloody

A brief clip from Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s lengthy censure of her fellow MAGA Republican Cory Mills: “Whereas police reports obtained by NBC4 Washington confirmed that the Washington, DC, Metropolitan Police Department was investigating Representative Cory Mills for an alleged assault of a 27-year old woman that took place on February 19, 2025, at the residence of Mills;”

“Whereas the first police report, provided to NBC4 Washington by a source and confirmed by a second source familiar with the investigation, said that the 27- year-old woman accused her significant other for over a year of having grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door, and also said that the woman involved showed the officer ‘bruises on her arm which appeared fresh’; Whereas NBC4 Washington also reported that the Metropolitan Police Department identified Representative Cory Mills as the significant other of the alleged victim of assault – which alleged victim was a 27-year-old woman who was not the wife of Representative Cory Mills – and that the alleged victim ‘let officers hear Subject 1 [now identified by MPD as Mills] instruct her to lie about the origin of her bruises . . . Eventually, Subject 1 made contact with police and admitted that the situation escalated from verbal to physical, but it was severe enough to create bruising’;

“Whereas on February 21, 2025, the Washington post also confirmed two DC police officials said that the alleged victim of assault initially told a 911 operator and police that she had been assaulted and that officers said she also had what seemed to be visible injuries, and that while a supervisor initially classified the offense internally as a family disturbance, police commanders later learned of the incident, reviewed the reports and body camera footage from the responding officers, and reclassified the case as a domestic violence assault;” and the litany of his sins continues.

Pope backs US Bishops’ opposition to Stephen Miller-ism

Asked if he backed a US Conference of Catholic Bishops statement from last week expressing sadness over “the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants. We are concerned about the conditions in detention centers and the lack of access to pastoral care. We lament that some immigrants in the United States have arbitrarily lost their legal status. We are troubled by threats against the sanctity of houses of worship and the special nature of hospitals and schools. We are grieved when we meet parents who fear being detained when taking their children to school and when we try to console family members who have already been separated from their loved ones,” Pope Leo XVI was pretty unequivocal in remarks to reporters on Tuesday.

Calling it “a very important statement. I would invite especially all Catholics, but people of goodwill, to listen carefully to what they said. No one has said that the United States should have open border. I think every country has a right to determine who and how and when people enter,” Leo said, adding “We have to look for ways of treating people humanely, treating people with the dignity that they have. If people are in the United States illegally, there are ways to treat that. There are courts. There’s a system of justice,” but it has “a lot of problems” that need be addressed.

Regime admits they hid indictment from Comey grand jury

Convicted felon President Trump’s crack team of inept prosecutors – tasked with bringing former FBI Director James Comey to justice for the heinous crime of misunderstanding a question during a 2020 congressional hearing – informed the court that they did not show the “operative indictment” to the grand jury before the barest majority voted to bring charges, Lawfare’s Anna Bower reports.

Can any lawyers pipe in here and opine on whether this is disbarment-y? It sounds disbarment-y.

Marsha Blackburn urges troops to defy COVID mandate

Oh wait this is Blackburn reacting to the “Don’t Give Up The Ship” video in which elected Dems urged service members to stand up for the rule of law and the constitution, calling it a horrible incitement of mutiny against the President of the United States and so on and so forth.

It was back in December 2022 when she urged American service personnel to defy Biden’s COVID vax mandate. National Zero sincerely apologizes to readers for this editorial mistake.

Nexstar CEO makes a principled case for TEGNA merger

In a totally neutral and principled appeal to the Trump Regime FCC for why his company should be allowed to buy up smaller rival TEGNA and thus acquire significantly more local affiliate stations than regulations currently allow for, Nexstar CEO Perry Sook wrote: “To be clear, in an age of disinformation and political agendas, we are the anti-fake news. Our news is delivered by trusted, familiar voices – journalists who live in the community – not a chatbot or social media influencers.”

“And yet, we are prohibited from broadcasting trusted local news and programming to hundreds of communities across the country because of antiquated regulatory constraints. In an era where political discourse has turned increasingly polarized and violent, our democracy requires that Americans have easy access to reliable fact-based journalism and community forums to debate the issues of the day safely and respectfully. Nexstar’s acquisition of TEGNA will provide us with the scale necessary for local journalism to thrive amidst a media landscape that is dominated by Big Tech and the legacy media companies, enabling us to continue not only investing in high-quality journalism and local news, but in serving our local communities in the best possible way,” Sook continued, as though such pablum was necessary after he had led with that “anti-fake news” shit.

That was all that shitbag Brendan Carr and his fat orange boss needed to hear from him.

Harvard opening internal investigation into Larry Summers

In a statement to student paper the Crimson, Harvard University leadership confirmed that “the University is conducting a review of information concerning individuals at Harvard included in the newly released Jeffrey Epstein documents to evaluate what actions may be warranted,” namely against former University President/current professor of multiple courses Larry Summers.

For those keeping score at home, this means that the British Royal family derogated the tertiary claimant to the throne, the civilian government of the same nation fired their ambassador to the United States, the skippers of no fewer than three major financial institutions have been felled, and the most prestigious university in the world are putting together their case for eventually banishing their otherwise popular and revered former leader – all for their connections to Dirty Jeff.

Meanwhile the President of the United States is “a good man who protects women. That’s what real men do,” according to a certain member of his party, who would not dare dream of visiting any similarly grave consequences upon him for being potentially inculpated in Jeff’s crimes.

Oh and his accomplice gets free toilet paper for telling Trump’s toady what he wanted to hear.

Doomed California Republican rages over Texas gerrymander crash

Responding to the surprise ruling from a Trump-appointed Texas federal judge bricking the Lone Star State GOP’s ill-planned mid-decade gerrymander, Republican California Congressman Kevin Kiley – one of the five almost certainly doomed in 2026 after Prop 50’s passage – told Punchbowl’s Laura Weiss that “To the extent there was any point to begin with – which I don’t think there was – I don’t think even if you’ve got a partisan advantage on this it in any way shape or form justifies it. But that’s not even gonna happen it looks like. And with this court decision, it’s even more in doubt.”

“So it’s just utterly foolish,” Kiley continued, also ripping into Jesus Dork Speaker Mike Johnson’s failure to push back against convicted felon President Trump’s push to rig the midterms and come to some kind of truce with Democrats. “It was a total failure of leadership to let this happen in a way that is going to be bad for our own members, bad for the House, bad for representation across the country,” Kiley, whose seat was a sacrifice Trump and Johnson were willing to make, seethed.
