Soros drops $1 million on Wisconsin state Supreme Court race

Pro-democracy billionaire George Soros has contributed $1 million to back liberal Milwaukee Judge Janet Protasiewicz in the heated Wisconsin state Supreme Court race against anti-democracy former Justice Dan Kelly, angry asshole MAGA influencer Dan Bongino’s lame website reports.

“Soros has funneled over $40 million into backing rogue prosecutors nationwide, and they now represent 20% of Americans. And wherever they go, chaos follows,” says the Bongino.com article.

FDA approves over-the-counter Narcan nasal spray

“Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Narcan, 4 milligram naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray for over-the-counter (OTC), nonprescription, use – the first naloxone product approved for use without a prescription. Naloxone is a medication that rapidly reverses the effects of opioid overdose and is the standard treatment for opioid overdose. Today’s action paves the way for the life-saving medication to reverse an opioid overdose to be sold directly to consumers in places like drug stores, convenience stores, grocery stores and gas stations, as well as online.”

“The timeline for availability and price of this OTC product is determined by the manufacturer. The FDA will work with all stakeholders to help facilitate the continued availability of naloxone nasal spray products during the time needed to implement the Narcan switch from prescription to OTC status, which may take months. Other formulations and dosages of naloxone will remain available by prescription only,” says the FDA in a pretty fucking sad statement on 21st century America.

It’s great that they’re doing it, but that they fucking have to do it just shows how bad things have gotten. The question of whether an individual opioid user deserves sympathy is something that can be judged on a case-by-case basis. None of the heartbreaking stories about one person or another falling victim to opioid addiction after being prescribed painkillers makes it any less a moral failing overall. It’s not like this is some trendy new party drug that’s suddenly killing people. How many Americans have died of opioid addiction in the past decade? Is it up to a million yet? Who the fuck still thinks using heroin – or even gateway prescription painkillers like Oxycontin – is a good idea?

We already wrote this article about Trump thanking a grand jury

We already wrote this article on February 16th. The headline said “Like with other things, Trump probably a little premature on this” about a Truth Social post when Trump wrote “Thank you to the Special Grand Jury in the Great State of Georgia for your Patriotism & Courage. Total exoneration. The USA is very proud of you!!!” after a judge allowed the release of sections of the Fulton County, Georgia special grand jury report on their investigation into Trump’s coup attempt in the state. The sections didn’t say anything about “exoneration,” he just wanted to act like they did.

Then he changed his mind after the wacky forewoman all but outright told the media the jurors had recommended his indictment. We’re looking forward to Trump following up on this one too.

McCarthy to kick debt limit can down the road

Legendarily uncourageous Speaker of The House Kevin McCarthy is preparing a short-term debt limit increase in exchange for modest budget concessions from the White House in order to “put the ball in Senate Democrats’ court,” whatever that means to Punchbowl News writers who use such tedious sports cliches in their reporting. It really sounds more like a punt, anyway.

Tennessee Gov says shooting victim was close friend of wife

In a Tuesday night video address about the Nashville Covenant School shooting, Tennessee Governor Billy Lee revealed that one of the victims, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, was one of Lee’s wife Maria’s “best friends,” Fox News reports on what’s probably a bit of an awkward situation.

“Cindy was supposed to come over and have dinner with Maria last night after she filled in as a substitute teacher yesterday,” Lee said, adding that Maria Lee, Peak and another victim, school head Katherine Koonce, all had previously taught together and “have been family friends for decades.”

What does Lee tell their families now? “I am so sorry for your loss. I will this week introduce legislation to ban people from using different pronouns than the ones assigned at birth so this heinous crime never happens again. We’ll call it ‘Cynthia’s Law’ to honor you mom”? Will he call in the Tennessee chapter of the Oath Keepers for a 21 round AR-15 salute? Will six white doves be released so the Oath Keepers have something to shoot at during the salute?

Mexican guards walked away from Juarez migrant center fire

The late Monday night fire at the migrant facility in Juarez, Mexico was set by men – mostly from Guatemala, Honduras, Venezuela, and El Salvador – agitating for escape, piling mattresses and torching them to cause a disturbance reminiscent of the early detention camp scene in Scarface.

Problem is, according to Politico, video shows the guards did not bite and simply walked away as the conflagration grew out of control rather than let the men out with their lives. “There was smoke everywhere. The ones they let out were the women, and those (employees) with immigration,” said a woman detained in a separate block whose husband ended up hospitalized with smoke inhalation injuries. “The men, they never took them out until the firefighters arrived.”

FBI offers $20k reward for fugitive Maryland GOP official

The FBI announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the former chief-of-staff to Republican Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, who has been on the run for three weeks after not showing up for a court hearing.  The Baltimore Banner reports Roy McGrath is listed by the FBI as five-foot-five-inches tall, weighing 140 pounds, and may be using the alias “Roy Baisliadou” while he’s on the run.

The former head of the Maryland Environmental Service, McGrath moved to Florida after Hogan left office, but was later indicted for falsifying records, including falsely claiming an increased buyout was approved by Hogan, to greatly increase his retirement package and cash buyout.

We can’t be shocked anymore: Trump vows to violate the law before taking office if he somehow wins presidency in 2024

“I would fix that [the Ukraine war] within 24 hours, and if I win before I get into the office, I will have that war settled.  One hundred percent sure,” Donald Trump declares, apparently unaware that he would be a private citizen interfering in the foreign relations of the sitting President, a violation of the Logan Act and a tacit admission that he would simply hand Ukrainian land over to Vladimir Putin, something no American president has the power to do.

The overall interview with Hannity was unspectacular because it was so typical:  Trump lied repeatedly about the government documents at his Florida supper club; Trump lied about paying Stormy Daniels with company money to cover up his affair during the campaign; Trump lied about being happy to see his secret advisor, Sean Hannity.

Trump supporter pulls knife in front of Manhattan courthouse

An unhinged Trump supporter pulled a knife on two women she was arguing with in front of the Manhattan courthouse where a grand jury weighing Donald Trump’s fate is meeting, the New York Daily News reports.  The woman, identified as 39-year-old Angela Rucker, was holding a sign that read, “I’m with Trump. Are you?” and was in a heated discussion with two women, one of whom was pushing a baby in a stroller and the other was caring for two small children.

At some point, Rucker pulled out the knife and started waving it wildly toward the women.  Court officers saw Rucker brandishing the knife, drew their weapons and ordered her to drop the weapon.  Rucker complied and wasn’t shot; photos of Rucker being taken away depict a white woman in custody.

Trump’s payoff problems may be more than just Stormy

As everyone sits with the single-serve packet in the microwave and their finger hovering over the “popcorn” button, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg seems to be drawing out the expected grand jury indictment of Donald Trump for financial improprieties relating to using his company’s legal fund as cover to pay off non-disclosure agreements.  But Bragg may not be delaying the seemingly inevitable for dramatic tension; he’s likely got other things bubbling up.

A short dive into Twitter uncovered a post by a user who claimed to be a freelance writer who had written a story for the National Enquirer about a doorman at Trump’s residence who claimed Trump had a child with a cleaning woman who worked in the building.  The supposed writer claimed to have been paid for the story by AMI, the National Enquirer’s parent company, which promptly spiked the story.  The writer’s claim can’t be confirmed, but the fact that the National Enquirer paid Dino Sajudin, a former doorman at Trump World Tower, $30,000 in December 2015 for exclusive rights to his story has been confirmed.  No AMI publication ran a story on Sajudin’s claim prior to the 2016 election; the story didn’t break until 2018.  And before you say December 2015 wasn’t really the presidential election season, Trump announced in June 2015, and Trump participated in five primary debates in 2015.

If Bragg is looking into Stormy Daniels’ non-disclosure agreement for using Trump Organization funds to pay for a personal and political cost for Donald Trump’s personal advantage, Bragg is likely also looking into all payoffs made with Trump Org funds.  This would include the payoff to Sajudin–and likely many others who were paid to keep Trump’s dirty little secrets such as Karen McDougal.

Tuberville using Senate procedure to block promotions for 150 officers in protest of Pentagon abortion policy

Alabama football coach turned Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville stopped the Senate approval process for the promotion of more than 150 generals and flag officers in protest of a Pentagon policy that reimburses service members who have to travel to obtain an abortion if the state where they’re stationed makes it difficult to find a provider, NBC News reports.

The Hyde Amendment prevents federal funds from being used to fund abortions, and the Pentagon’s policy does not actually pay for abortions; it pays for travel, hotel and other expenses affiliated with the service member’s abortion–costs made necessary because of (1) the aforementioned Hyde Amendment and (2) GOP-led states criminalizing a medical procedure.

Mike Pence “pleased” with court’s decision to block certain questions, doesn’t sound like he’s going to fight rest of order

In the Tuesday ruling roping former Vice President Mike Pence in to testify to the grand jury investigating fat former President Trump’s January 6th, 2021 coup plot, Judge James Boasberg bought Pence’s argument that he should be allowed to skip the questions pertaining to his role as president of the Senate during the Electoral College count session under the Speech and Debate clause, but voided any claim to executive privilege covering his conversations with the Orange God Emperor in the lead-up. Pence doesn’t seem too worried about answering those particular questions about what happened in the White House as that was Trump’s fight, not his.

Russian dad gets two years for daughter’s anti-war drawing

A Russian court on Tuesday sentenced a single dad to two years in prison in a case that started when his 13 year-old daughter’s school principal ratted him out over an anti-Ukraine war picture she drew in class last spring and had the girl put in a state orphanage, the AP reports.

Alexei Moskalyov, 54, wasn’t there when the sentence was handed down as he skipped house arrest late Monday night following his conviction on probably fabricated social media posts badmouthing the Putin regime and is still currently at large, possibly with the aid of activists.

Merrick Garland says Durham report coming “relatively soon”

Responding to a question from granny-faced Republican Louisiana Senator John Kennedy during a committee hearing on Tuesday, US Attorney General Merrick Garland said John Durham’s long-awaited report on his failed “Deep State” investigation – which resulted in zero days served in prison for the three guys who faced charges and only one of them was actually convicted for lying under oath about an unrelated matter – is coming “relatively soon,” Politico’s Josh Gerstein reports.

“Relatively soon” means probably like Christmas at the earliest. If you’re a lib thinking Fani Willis, Jack Smith, and Alvin Bragg are taking their sweet ass time try to picture yourself as a fanboy who thought the Durham Report was definitely, 110% coming before the 2020 election and would be the huge October surprise that would bring the entire Deep State to its knees. Bragg picked up a stalled investigation two months ago. Smith, four months. Willis has been at it for over two years, but she roped in a shit ton of testimony from Trump minions and could pull the trigger any day now.

Durham was appointed in April 2019. He was supposed to bring down Crooked Hillary, Pizza Guy Podesta, even Obama and Biden in his investigation. ONE guy pleaded guilty to lying under oath about falsifying paperwork. The other two were acquitted and the MAGA kids were reduced to crying that the trials weren’t fair because some of the jurors donated to Hillary. Sure it sucks having to read headlines like “Manhattan grand jury fucks off another week,” but imagine being a Trump fanboy reading this one, hoping that fucking Merrick Garland isn’t just trolling them.

House GOP background sources won’t tell CNN about any Trump and Jim Jordan coordination on anything, let alone Stormy case

For all the talk these days about how lame CNN’s TV news coverage is, the issues with it do not extend to their website’s written articles, which have been pretty fucking solid for the last few months. In fact it seems like CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS have all stepped it up and are almost within spitting distance of the Times and the Post in terms of good and gritty political coverage.

However, CNN’s Tuesday report on communication and coordination between the House GOP and their Orange God Emperor over ongoing investigations and other time-wasting bullshit is actually notable for what it doesn’t have. Sources seemed happy to talk about the offense – as in Hunter Biden all day – but none, not even on background, wanted to say anything about defense, especially the thus far failed attempt to haul Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in front of a committee.

“Multiple sources tell CNN that Trump and House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan speak regularly but declined to divulge whether those conversations included Jordan’s investigative efforts,” CNN writes, and it’s hard not to imagine that the MAGA House members and staff shit themselves after Bragg’s general counsel Leslie Duebeck pointed out that Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina had reportedly sent a letter to Jordan last month asking him to open an investigation into Bragg’s office.

What we’re confused about here is the precise reason why that particular topic was off-limits. If they’re proud to coordinate with Trump on his other “priorities” then why wouldn’t anyone among the House GOP want to talk about the one thing most important to him these days? Is there something we might be missing here about the legality of such collusion? Of course it’s sketchy and unethical as fuck, but that’s never stopped Trump and Republicans before. Is there more to it?

Dominion to call Hannity, Tucker, Frau Ingraham to witness stand

In a court filing on Monday ahead of the upcoming trial their $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, lawyers for Dominion Voting Systems say they intend to call prime time propagandists Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham, as well as QAnon freak Maria Bartiromo, “straight news” anchor Bret Baier, and former decision desk guys Bill Sammon and Chris Stirewalt, as well as executives Suzanne Scott and Jay Wallace to the stand, CNN reports, adding that former Tucker producer Abby Grossberg has already volunteered to testify given her related case against Fox.

Most of them will probably fight it, save for maybe Stirewalt and Sammon given their firing over the election night 2020 Arizona call for Biden, but if Dominion lawyers were able to rope in Rupert Murdoch himself in for a deposition then we like their odds for the rest of the crew.
