Capitol rioter former West Virginia lawmaker loses House primary

Derrick Evans, the convicted MAGA insurrectionist and former West Virginia state House Delegate whose career in politics last all of 39 days when he resigned after being charged for entering the Capitol during the mayhem on January 6th, 2021, has lost his Republican primary bid against incumbent WV-01 Congresswoman Carol Miller, Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman projects.

In other Mountain State primary news, Governor Jim Justice stomped MAGA Congressman Alex Mooney in the Republican US Senate primary, convicted felon misdemeanant psychopath coal baron Don Blankenship is very likely to finish last in the Dem US Senate primary, and the gubernatorial primary between Trump fanboy Attorney General Patrick Morrissey and Moore Capito (Yeah, one of the two Senators from the state is Shelley Moore Capito, this guy is her son, first name Moore, last name Capito) is tight, with Morrissey leading Capito by just 3.9 percent at 43 percent reporting.

Watters wants all Republicans to interfere with judiciary

“And the posse should be growing,” Fox host and utter dumbass Jesse Watters says without understanding that the posse would be the group enforcing the law, not threatening it.  “We should have had the entire House and Senate Republican caucus outside that courthouse speaking on behalf of a president who’s unfairly gagged by a judge who donates to Biden.”

By the way, have you noticed the uniform:  blue suit, red tie.  It’s the new brown shirt of fidelity to the Leader.  It’s a good look for a bunch of politicians supporting a guy who paid off a porn star and hid an extramarital affair to grab control of your Party.  They are spineless sheep who believe laws do not apply to them.

Boeing subject to criminal prosecution after violating agreement to cooperate with investigations, improve safety

The Department of Justice notified Boeing on Tuesday that the company has violated the terms of a 2021 agreement following crashes involving its 737 Max aircraft that protected the company from criminal charges, allowing the DOJ to pursue criminal indictments, CNN reports.

The DOJ asserts that Boeing breached its obligations in the agreement “by failing to design, implement, and enforce a compliance and ethics program to prevent and detect violations of the U.S. fraud laws throughout its operations.”  The company entered into the agreement that essentially opened up its operations to investigators after a series of accidents, including fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 involving the 737 Max 800.

It’s unclear if the DOJ made its decision because it found things in its recent investigations into a series of mishaps involving Boeing aircraft, including an exit door plug exploding, a tire falling off landing gear, or an engine cowling dropping off midflight.

Trump Force One clips other plane on runway at West Palm Beach

In a collision that unfortunately occurred about 300 feet too low to end fat former President Trump’s comeback campaign, as well as his criminal trials, time running the Trump Organization, Truth Social parent TMTG, and so on and so forth, WFLA reports the Orange Defendant’s plane “Trump Force One” clipped another plane whilst taxiing on the runway at West Palm Beach International Airport on Sunday, citing an FAA statement. It’s not clear if the pornstar fucker was on board at the time.

The “shut up and play” crowd is silent on this one

Remember when conservatives were fond of telling professional athletes and entertainers to “just shut up and [sing, play, wrestle, etc.]” who voiced political opinions?  Of course, that’s only for people protesting police abuse or highlighting racial inequity in the justice system or supporting LGBTQ rights.  When you’re a conservative, they’ll give you a blowhorn.

Case in point:  NFL football player Harrison Butker, the outspoken conservative punter for the Kansas City Chiefs.  Per the Associated Press, Butker was the keynote speaker at the commencement at Benedictine College, a private Catholic college in Atchison, Kansas.  After four years of hard work, their graduation address consisted of a professional ball-kicker telling them that the most important title the women in the class can have is “homemaker,” while blaming “dangerous gender ideologies” for many of societies woes.

“While COVID might have played a large role throughout your formative years, it is not unique,” he told the crowd at the school, located about 60 miles north of Kansas City. “The bad policies and poor leadership have negatively impacted major life issues. Things like abortion, IVF, surrogacy, euthanasia, as well as a growing support for the degenerate cultural values and media all stem from pervasiveness of disorder.”

Bob Ferguson and Bob Ferguson withdraw from Washington Dem gov primary after threat from rival Attorney General Bob Ferguson

Washington State Dem gubernatorial hopefuls Bob Ferguson and Bob Ferguson on Monday withdrew from the primary after their mutual rival, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, threatened their campaign manager, MAGA activist Glen Morgan, with charges under RCW 29a.84.320, prohibiting candidates from running under “duplicate, nonexistent, untrue names,” KOMO reports.

Morgan had posted last week that he was the “volunteer campaign manager for two of the Bob Fergusons running for governor. They are both superior in every way to the AG running for the same office, and I believe they can provide better choices for the Democrats in our state for that office.”

At least one of the two non-Attorney General Bob Fergusons had previously voted Republican. One of them, residing in Graham, Washington told KOMO “I’m just a little man, I do not have the means to combat this. That’s why I signed the paperwork last night, and it’s submitted today to withdraw from the race,” and then went on with I think the people of the state have been underserved for many, many years. We’ve just been robbed blind by the current administration, and everyone associated with it. The little man’s paying for it, and enough is enough. It’s just it’s got to stop.”

Likely Republican general election rival Congressman Dave Reichert disavowed any involvement in the scam, but only after Attorney General Ferguson called him out for not doing so in a press conference. “In all nine of my previous campaigns, I have won without any games or antics such as these,” Reichert told KOMO. “I don’t support any effort to deceive the voters of Washington state.”

Giuliani still hasn’t been served notice of Arizona indictment

Former Trump lawyer and current bankruptcy applicant Rudy Giuliani has not yet been served notice of his April 24th indictment in Arizona for his role in the 2020 fake electors scheme to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the state, the Washington Post reports.  Rudy has to be in Arizona for a hearing before a judge on May 21st.

But it’s not like Rudy is hurdling fencing and sliding over car hoods to avoid a process server.  When the indictment was handed down, the Arizona AG’s office sent two agents to personally serve Giuliani but they were thwarted by the Manhattan building’s doorman, who refused to take the notice and wouldn’t allow the agents into the building.  Further efforts through phone and fax have been unsuccessful, with phone numbers Giuliani previously used no longer working.

Lindsey claims he’s too busy to go to Manhattan

South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham on Tuesday told CBS’s Scott MacFarlane he won’t be headed to New York City to sit in court and then go outside and yell at news cameras during fat former President Trump’s criminal trial for paying hush money to a pornstar he had two minutes of sex with, telling MacFarlane he’s simply too busy with Senate stuff to make the trip.

Mind you that Graham spent Christmas in New York lobbying the state legislature not to pass a law requiring future Chick-fil-A locations at state-owned rest stops to remain open on Sundays.

Tennessee Gov Lee legalizes death penalty for child rapists

Tennessee Governor Billy Lee last week quietly signed legislation allowing prosecutors to pursue the death penalty in cases of child rape – something actually outlawed by the US Supreme Court in 2008 but maybe kind of open to reinterpretation by the current court, the Associated Press reports.

Hunter Biden gun trial starts next month

A Delaware federal judge on Tuesday tossed Hunter Biden’s motion to delay his trial on federal gun charges and set the jury selection to begin next month, the Associated Press reports.

It’s not clear if House Dems like Hakeem Jeffries, Jamie Raskin, Dan Goldman, Nancy Pelosi, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, or former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson will show up to support Hunter during the trial and then hold press conferences outside but no they probably won’t.

Orcas attack, sink yacht in Strait of Gibraltar

An unknown number of killer whales on Sunday scored a big W against mankind by sinking some rich asshole’s yacht just by ramming it with their bodies in the Strait of Gibraltar, Sky News reports.

The two people on board the now sunken sailboat reported feeling blows to the boat’s hull and rudder before it started taking on water. They radioed a nearby oil tanker for help and were later picked up from the larger vessel by the Spanish coast guard after watching their boat sink,

LIVE UPDATES: Cohen faces cross-exam from Team Orange

The Manhattan District Attorney’s direct examination of former Trump lawyer/fixer Michael Cohen continues Tuesday morning but, as his recounting of events on Monday left off somewhere in early 2017, it’s a near certainty he’ll wrap it up around midday, handing the floor to the Orange Slob’s defense for cross-examination. It’s not much of an exaggeration to say this will be the most important phase of the trial and that whether Cohen can keep his cool while under attack from the cornered, desperate animals on Team Trump is going to be make-or-break for the state’s case.

Bragg’s team have pre-corroborated as much as they possibly can, as well as pretty effectively crippled the defense’s credibility with the jury by pointing out inconsistent statements, however the reality is that it all rests on whether they choose to believe Cohen’s version of events surrounding the actual crimes: 34 felony acts of falsification of business records in the furtherance of another crime – campaign finance fraud intended to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.

Feds ask appeals court to let them toss Steve Bannon in prison

His appeal tossed by the DC Circuit Court of Appeals last week and radio silent on further appellate action either en banc at the circuit or with the Supreme Court, white nationalist alcoholic Steve Bannon should start packing some books and razors for a four month stay at the big hotel, federal prosecutors on Tuesday told the DC Circuit in a filing asking to lift the stay.

“Pressure is building on the Biden administration” to help expose the “collusion” in Trump’s criminal trial: Washington Examiner

“Pressure is building on the Biden administration to put up records that may ‘indicate collusion’ between the Justice Department and state prosecutors in the hush money case against former President Donald Trump in Manhattan, with several Republicans at various levels of government seeking documents, including through a new investigation launched by West Virginia on Monday.”

“West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, a Trump ally, submitted a Freedom of Information Act request on Monday to the DOJ asking it to produce documents concerning an ex-DOJ employee’s transition to employment by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, which is prosecuting Trump in the 34-count hush money case,” the Washington Examiner reports. Lol.

National Zero no longer copies and pastes other outlets’ news articles paragraph by paragraph verbatim for content (emphasis on “news” because we still copypasta from press releases etc) like we did for much of the first year and a half of our existence, save for specific circumstances where we analyze and break down others’ coverage. This however is just to point and laugh at this stupid bullshit. It might as well be a Fox News or Newsmax clip or Breitbart tweet to mock. Literally any American can put in an FOIA request. Of course it helps to be a lawyer when navigating the Kafkaesque red tape of the system, but it’s not a requirement. There are undoubtedly hundreds of hours of YouTube videos and online courses out there on how to properly file them.

Modi reelection campaign sticking to the anti-Muslim basics

Writing that 73 year-old Indian dictator Narendra Modi was expected to frame his campaign leading the world’s largest “democracy” as a referendum on his ten years in power and “achievements like generous welfare programmes and spaceflights,” the BBC reports that the genocidal strongman’s reelection bid has instead “shifted gears” and is now running of the fundamentals of hardcore Hindu nationalism, as in portraying the country’s 172 million Muslims as “inflitrators” and “jihadists.”

“To be honest, I thought Mr Modi’s campaign would be much more about the rising India story, and about what they had done for the people,” said Delhi-based think tanker Rahul Verma, apparently surprised that a leader responsible for inciting a 2002 pogrom that killed as many as 2,000 Muslim Indians in Gujarat province would campaign on selecting the national cricket team’s lineup “on the basis of religion” and rage about Muslims being welfare freeloaders by having “many children.”

Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party are widely expected to completely crush the opposition Indian National Congress and its coalition of regional parties in the ongoing weeks-long national elections.

Blinken arrives in Ukraine as Russia bombards northeast

With bombs, drones and artillery battering the northeastern city of Kharkiv, American Secretary of State Tony Blinken arrived in Kyiv for two days of meetings with Ukrainian leadership to reinforce the Biden Administration’s dedication to supporting the Ukrainian defense, the Washington Post reports.

Blinken becomes the highest-level US government official to visit Kyiv since Congress finally passed a $61 billion aid package on April 21st, a move that triggered Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia Republican and conspiracy theorist to call for Preacher Mike Johnson’s ouster, a move that failed embarrassingly.

Once the bill passed in April after seven months of Republican obstruction, the Biden Administration worked quickly to move $1.4 billion in military equipment by using the presidential authority to draw down current military stockpiles, with another $6 billion that will be distributed through the end of the year.

Michael Cohen has entered the chat

The fifth week brought the emergence of the key witness in the case, former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, who was convicted on a federal level of election interference crimes; he was also convicted of lying to a congressional investigation.  Cohen connected Trump making the payment to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, becoming the nexus of the characters in the plan.

  • Republican Senators JD Vance (Ohio) and Tommy Tuberville (Alabama-ish), Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, and GOP Attorneys General Brenna Bird (Iowa) and Steve Marshall (Louisiana) decided to not do their jobs to join Eric Trump in the gallery at the trial.  (MSNBC reports the Trump camp put a call out to the GOP Senate Conference and the Republican Attorney Generals Association to have more people attend to support Trump.)
  • Michael Cohen, Donald Trump’s old lawyer who made the payment to Stormy Daniels on behalf of Trump, takes the stand.
  • Cohen said that he was instructed by Trump to renegotiate accounts payable to 20¢ on the dollar, which runs contrary to Cohen overpaying himself and paying Daniels’ out of pocket.
