Saying the court needed more minority representation, five justices on the Louisiana Supreme Court asked the state legislature to redrawn the judicial districts to get more equitable representation on the panel, KDSU NBC-6 New Orleans reports.  The Louisiana Supreme Court sits seven justices elected in district elections.  Currently, the court has five Republicans, one Democrat and one independent, with the letter being submitted to legislative leaders by the Dem and four Republicans.

Stating that they hoped redrawing the districts to include a new minority-majority district would end a four-and-a-half-year federal lawsuit seeking to improve representation in the state, where non-white citizens make up 40% of the population. “The current election districts have not been updated in more than 25 years. We feel the time to act relative to these issues is now. In this regard, a redistricting proposal has been prepared that has the support of a majority of the Supreme Court, and which addresses the issues described above,” the five justices said in their letter.  “It creates a second majority minority (voting age population) election district, allowing that seat to be filled in the Fall of 2024.”

The story begins on January 4, 2021, when Matt Morgan, a Trump 2020 Campaign lawyer (emphasis on campaign because of the fat fuck’s recent emphasis on claiming the coup attempt was an official act), emailed Chesebro and Trump 2020 fake electors’ quarterback Mike Roman for a confirmation that all the fraudulent electoral certificates were in Washington. Note that this was three weeks after the assholes had signed them in seven state capitols. Roman told Morgan that the Michigan certificates were still “in transit” at a USPS facility after having been mailed December 15th while they had no idea where the Wisconsin ones were. While Roman and Chesebro frantically worked to figure out what to do, Morgan emailed again to say “As I thought about this more, a courier will not be able to access the Capitol to deliver a sealed package. You will probably need to enlist the help of a legislator who can deliver to the appropriate place(s). I strongly recommend you guys discuss a revised delivery plan with Rudy (Giuliani) to make sure this gets done the way he wants.”

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday rejected fat former President Trump’s motion for a stay postponing the scheduled January 16th start of the damages-only trial in the defamation suit brought by writer EJ Carroll after having already tossed his bullshit “absolute immunity” claim.

The Orange Rapist had asked for the stay while he considered taking his case to the Supreme Court, which is already expected to (eventually) deny his immunity claim on the criminal side too.

Gasoline price tracking site GasBuddy, which despite its folksy name is probably on par with JP Morgan or Goldman Sachs in terms of its analytical heft, have projected that the cost per gallon of dead dino juice nationwide will average out to $3.38 in 2024, CNN reports, down from $3.51 in 2023, and $3.89 in 2022, costing Americans $32 billion less than 2023 and $79 billion less than 2022.

Reporters with the Bucks County Courier Times this week found court documents revealing that Doylestown MAGA school board activist and failed Republican 2022 lieutenant governor primary candidate Clarice Schillinger was charged with assault, harassment, and furnishing minors with alcohol over her daughter’s 17th birthday party in September that devolved into a drunken melee.

The 36 year-old Schillinger, who like many other Karens of her ilk launched her political career during the COVID-19 pandemic, founding PACs called “Keeping Kids In School” and “Back To School PA” in 2020 and 2021, respectively, for the pretty self-explanatory purpose of backing Republican school board candidates who opposed remote learning, flipping 113 of 182 seats on Keystone State district boards during the 2021 mini-red wave. The next summer Schillinger told a local radio host she was taking her PAC nationally. “Back To School USA is really going to be focused on putting candidates in place that will put our children and their education first,” she told WPHT’s Dom Giordano. “Right now, we are not doing that. We are more focused on these woke and gender ideas.”

This was after Schillinger had launched her 2022 lieutenant gubernatorial campaign and came in 4th in the Republican primary. The winner, now-former state Representative Carrie DelRosso, then got crushed by Dem now-Lt Governor Austin Daniels by 15 percent in the general, so Schillinger was spared further embarrassment… until her daughter’s September 29th, 2023 birthday bash.

Court and police documents state that the liquor-fueled celebration featured entertainment such as Schillinger’s now-ex-boyfriend Shan Wilson grabbing a 16 year-old boy by the neck for intervening in a fight between him and Schillinger, and then hitting a 15 year-old in the face during an argument over football. Schillinger’s mom Danette Bert punched the older kid in the eye and chased him around the kitchen. When some of the kids tried to leave, Schillinger ordered them to stay and ended up punching a boy in the chest, according to cell phone video acquired by police. Wilson and Bert have since reached plea deals with prosecutors with the assault charges dropped down to disorderly conduct, but Schillinger herself still faces a hearing late next month.

It’s amazing how conservatives continue to fail history when discussing the United States Civil War especially when they’re so enthusiastic to claim Abraham Lincoln as one of their own.  In this clip from CNN of a New Hampshire town hall, former Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley–remember she once led the state where the first shots were fired in the Civil War–claimed the cause of the Civil War was “how government was gonna run, the freedoms and what people could and couldn’t do.”  You know, like determine where they lived, or if they got an education, or if their children were ripped from their arms to be sold for labor.  Or as Nikki Haley says, what the slaveholders who owned them wanted the freedom to have them do.

New York Mayor Eric Adams instituted restrictions on when buses transporting migrants can arrive in the city, Gothamist reports, in an effort to thwart Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott from dumping dozens of people on the streets in the middle of the night to “own the libs.”

After his communications head called Abbott’s manipulation of migrants “inhumane” when a plane of migrants was diverted from New York to Philadelphia because of weather, Adams announced that buses carrying migrants can only drop off their passengers during weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and noon–and the buses must give 32-hours before discharging passengers at a single location in Manhatten.

“We can not allow buses with people needing our help to arrive without warning at any hour of day and night,” Adams said. “This not only prevents us from providing assistance in an orderly way, it puts those who have already suffered so much in danger.”

Facing a fundraising juggernaut in returning Dem challenger Adam Fritsch who came up just barely short against her in 2022, 37 year-old grandma idiot Congresswoman Lauren Boebert will drop out of her Colorado’s 3rd District race in 2024 and run instead for the 4th District seat to be vacated by retiring “RINO” Ken Buck – on the complete opposite side of the state, the Colorado Sun reports.

This probably fucks Adam Frisch as Cook Political Report’s Dave Wasserman has immediately shifted CO-3’s 2024 rating from “toss up” to “Lean R” as the Boebert herself was the problem there, not the GOP. What’s less clear is how well Boebert will do in CO-4 as, again, the problem is her, not the Republican Party. And she lives hundreds of miles west of the district. Some bald asshole had already declared against Buck back in October, who knows how much money he has or whether the “name recognition” thing will be good or bad for grandma on the high plains east of the Rockies.

The Colorado Republican Party says it has filed an appeal with the US Supreme Court to challenge the state Supreme Court’s ruling that Donald Trump is disqualified from appearing on the 2024 ballot by the 14th Amendment, CNN reports.

After a lower court declared Trump had participated in an insurrection but opted not to declare him ineligible after a half dozen voters–five Republicans and an independent–sued to get Trump taken off the ballot.  The state Supreme Court then ruled that Trump was ineligible for the ballot based on the 14th Amendment Clause 3, known as the Insurrection Clause but which should be renamed the Maya Angelou Clause (“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”) which bars people who violated their oath to protect and defend the Constitution from ever being elected to a position with a similar oath.

Republicans are set on keeping Trump on the ballot, even though his lead seems to be eroding in early primary states and he’s still facing multiple criminal and civil cases; he’ll likely face more, too, after the judgment in Rudy Giuliani’s Georgia civil defamation case.  To prepare for losing an appeal, Colorado’s GOP is considering holding a caucus, not an official primary, to assign their delegates, avoiding the spirit as well as the letter of the law.

Something’s up with this guy.
