Nearly half think Trump should drop out of 2024 race: poll

A new ABC News/Ipsos survey finds a plurality – 49 percent – of respondents think disgraced former President Trump should drop out of the 2024 presidential race after he was hit with four new felonies over his failed post-2020 election coup attempt, while 36 percent say he shouldn’t.

Nearly two-thirds – 65 percent – said the charges listed in Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s newest indictment are “serious” – among them 51 percent who said “very serious” versus 24 percent who said they were not – among those 17 percent who said “not serious at all.”

And in our favorite-est flavor of sample overlap, 46 percent of respondents once again said the charges were “politically motivated,” meaning an indeterminate but certainly non-zero number of people think the fat fuck deserves it no matter what, even if “politics” is a factor in the case.

Cannon very nearly fucked up a sex offender’s trial

Shitty MAGA federal Judge Aileen Cannon, who of course ended up with her boss, disgraced former President Trump’s upcoming federal espionage act violation and obstruction of justice trial, very nearly blew a case against the owner/operator of a child pornography site by refusing to allow defendant William Spearman’s mother and sister to sit in the courtroom during the jury selection process, a pretty blatant violation of his Sixth Amendment right to a public trial, Reuters reports.

Cannon also stupidly forgot to swear the jurors in. It was only because the defendant agreed to a “conditional” plea deal with the prosecution while the selection process was still ongoing that prevented an eventual guilty verdict from being overturned because of the dipshit judge’s conduct.

Support for more Ukraine aid drops to 45 percent

A new CNN/SSRS survey finds 55 percent of respondents saying “the United States has already done enough to stop Russian military actions in Ukraine” versus 45 percent saying “the United States should do more,” a troubling shift in public opinion that will no doubt be seized upon by the Kremlin in their propaganda and their many loyal friends in the Republican Party here at home.

Indian Supreme Court halts oppo leader’s bogus slander conviction

The Supreme Court of India on Friday dealt a blow to dictator Narendra Modi’s regime by by suspending opposition Congress party leader Rahul Gandhi’s bullshit slander conviction, voiding for now at least his two year prison sentence and restoring him to his seat in parliament as well as his eligibility to continue running for public office in next year’s elections, Reuters reports.

Gandhi was convicted in March on the charges brought by a Modi minion in the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), over comments he made in 2019 deemed insulting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other people surnamed Modi, including the lawmaker, also named Modi. It’s not clear if this is the final say, but for the time being Gandhi is a free man and can get back to work.

Razzlekhan pleads guilty to $4.5 billion bitcoin theft

Despite being founded by a millennial, National Zero isn’t really into covering the avocado toast-SoulCycle-NFT-blockchain-whatever bullshit. Mostly because of stereotypical millennials like the woman above, Heather Morgan aka “Razzlekhan,” a white female rapper and “fintech” entrepreneur who just… Like this isn’t satire, she was by all accounts taking herself seriously as an artist.

But the story has a happy ending as Morgan and her husband, Ilya “Dutch” Liechtenstein, on Thursday pleaded guilty to hacking into a bitcoin depository and stealing $4.5 billion of the digital pretend money that their particularly odious subspecies of millennial douchebags love so much.

College Board: Florida effectively banned AP Psychology

The College Board, the organization that produces Advanced Placement courses and SAT tests, announced that Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’s anti-LGBTQ policies have effectively negated the ability to certify AP Psychology classes in the state.

“We are sad to have learned that today the Florida Department of Education has effectively banned AP Psychology in the state by instructing Florida superintendents that teaching foundational content on sexual orientation and gender identity is illegal under state law. The state has said districts are free to teach AP Psychology only if it excludes any mention of these essential topics,” the College Board said in a statement.

The organization went on to say that because of the DeSantis-demanded requirements banning discussion of LGBTQ issues in classrooms mean that the course cannot be taught to the level required for college credits, the Board recommends removing the course from the available curriculum until the state revoke the DeSantis dictum.

Lauro admits Trump committed count two of indictment twice

Newest Trump attorney admits on two different Trump-friendly shows that Trump is guilty.  What John Lauro describes is quite literally what Trump was charged with in count two of his indictment, “Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding.” His fucking lawyer just admitted it on national television. Well actually this was the second time he did it. The first time was on Frau Ingraham’s show, the second on some Newsmax crap.

Both Justins from Tennessee voted back to their legislative seats

The two young Black Tennessee state legislators expelled from the state house after encouraging disruption from a group of anti-gun violence protestors in the Capitol both won back their seats in special elections held Thursday, the Associated Press reports.

Justin Pearson and Justin Jones have both been acting legislators since their local districts assigned them to be the interim representatives until the special election could be held.  Pearson and Jones won by comfortable margins.

Republicans expelled the two young Black men after censuring them and a third member–Gloria Johnson, a white woman–encouraged protestors in the house gallery.  Something about Johnson made her encouragement different than that of the two young Black men.

Who talked Trump out of another post-arraignment rally?

It’s not like we were looking forward to carrying yet another angry Trump speech at one of his shitty clubs just hours after he showed up in court. But like with every one of his other pre-scheduled cult gatherings, it would’ve been simply more economical for us to run it live rather than having to pluck clips off of Twitter and deciding which one to use only to have another one even more outrageous and/or worthy of derision show up in the feed just a minute later, turning our queue of stories into a long string of hateful bullshit. Even better would be if he died from or better yet been incapacitated by a massive stroke sometime in September or October of 2016 so we didn’t have to cover it at all.

Anyway, there’s no YouTube or Rumble feed for us to run because there’s no speech happening tonight, a glaring omission considering the fat bastard did so after his arraignments in Manhattan in April and then in Miami in June. There’s certainly an argument to be made that this is a matter of scheduling: That Trump’s first two arraignments came earlier in the day and gave him enough of a window to travel up and down the East Coast, while this one was at 4 PM. We wouldn’t really buy that for a number of reasons, not least of which is that DC and New Jersey are like 40 minutes apart by air. Or that he gives a shit if his sycophants at the Bedminster club would have to wait outside in the dark at 9 PM on an August weeknight if he were somehow delayed in returning to New Jersey.

So no, there almost certainly isn’t any such sort of normal, practical reason for the lack of a speech this time, which opens up a hell of a wide gap for us to speculate on why or, more accurately, who talked him out of venting his rage at having to face accountability in a court of law.

Appeals court upholds Biden migrant restrictions

A federal appeals court panel approved an emergency request from the Biden Administration to keep current migrant policies in place, staying a lower court ruling that would have voided the regulation in days, the Washington Post reports, giving Biden a temporary win in the border crisis.

In a 2-1 vote, the three-judge panel from the Ninth Circuit ruled that the restrictions on migrants including restrictions on the ability of those who came across the border illegally multiple times to apply for asylum–pushing asylum seekers to apply through means like online or at authorized ports–may continue.

Kari Lake wants to void the entire 2020 election

“[Trump] is a guy who’s already won!  He won in 2016.  He won even bigger in 2020,” asserts the woman who asserts she’s the legitimate governor of Arizona even though she’s lost every recount and every significant court case since 2020.  “All that January 6th was, was a staged riot to cover up the fact that they certified a fraudulent election. And I, y’know, I agree a lot with what [Kash Patel] said about impeachment.  If we just go back and deal with this fra- this fraudulent election, a-and what happened in 2020, we don’t have to impeach him because he really isn’t, in my opinion and many others when you look at the evidence, the true president.  We can jus- why don’t we decertify 2020, and that’s the way we deal with it.”

Apparently, Kari Lake hasn’t been paying attention to the slew of court cases that Trump lost in the aftermath of his massive Electoral College AND popular vote loss.

Two Navy sailors charged with providing secrets to Chinese

Two members of the US Navy serving in southern California have been charged with providing sensitive military information to the Chinese government, the New York Times reports.

A sailor aboard the amphibious assault ship Essex, moored in San Diego, 22-year-old machinist’s mate Jinchao (Patrick) Wei allegedly provided information like 30 US technical and mechanical manuals, as well as technical capabilities and vulnerabilities for the ship he worked on as well as others.  Charges under the Espionage Act allege Wei, a naturalized US citizen, betrayed his adopted country for his homeland, but in some cases, it insinuates Wei did it for money; it alleges he was paid $5,000 for the 30 manuals. Court papers note Wei became a citizen while working for the Chinese; Wei’s Chinese handler congratulated him when he took his citizenship oath.

The second charged, Petty Officer Wenheng (Thomas) Zhao, 26, from  Naval Base Ventura County delivered electrical diagrams and blueprints for a radar system stationed on a U.S. military base in Okinawa, Japan to his handler, as well as plans for a US military exercise, detailing the travel, maneuvers and other specs of US Navy vessels in the Indo-Pacific fleet.  Zhao was not charged under the espionage act, but prosecutors could seek up to 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts.

Fox News reports manhunt underway for total hunk

Fox News reported Thursday that police in Bulloch County, Georgia are seeking total hunk Joseph Baynes, who only stayed theirs for so long before slipping away from their grips at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. They should’ve known this particular catch’s perfectly chiseled cheekbones and sly smile wouldn’t linger before he’s out on the prowl again, so watch out ladies.

Like seriously watch out. This handsome stud is wanted on a felony stalking warrant in Minnesota.

Smith and Trump stared each other down in court: CNN reporter

CNN legal correspondent Katelyn Polantz on Thursday told Situation Room anchor Erin Burnett that Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith and his obese orange prey met eyes and stared at each other during a “tense moment” in the courtroom in DC during Trump’s arraignment appearance.

“When he came into the courtroom [Trump] had a very clear view of Jack Smith, was essentially turned to face him directly, looked at him for quite a long time. Smith looked back. They never shook hands,” Polantz told Burnett without making it clear why the fuck she thinks people would have expected them to shake hands. Anyway, Polantz continued to describe the scene, saying “they never really nodded. But it was quite a tense moment.” Too bad Trump didn’t scream at Smith and accuse him of being a cokehead and a Nazi Communist something like he does on the internet all the time, but hey that’s just the kind of man he is. Tough on social media, chickenshit in real life.

Literally everything he’s charged with happened after Nov 3, 2020

Actually, Marge, Donnie’s being charged because, in his mind, the country committed the “crime” of not reelecting him during the 2020 election, which pushed him to commit the crimes he’s accused of to overturn that election.

Oh, and all those other federal crimes he’s charged with? Those kicked in one second after noon on January 20, 2021, the moment he was no longer authorized to possess classified information.

Terms of Trump’s bail raise questions about priorities

MSNBC contributor Andrew Weissman, a former federal prosecutor and currently an NYU law school professor, noted two parts of Magistrate Judge Moxila Upadhyaya’s instructions during indicted felon Donald Trump’s arraignment hearing:

“Two things stood out to me as unusual.  It is not unusual for the magistrate judge to have talked to the assigned district judge to find out what the next date is.  What is unusual… is to be so focused on the trial date, and then to have obviously from the district judge the dates by which she wants submissions on that issue and that it’s going to be settled on the 28th.  That to me, for people who have been thinking that she is not focused on whether this is going to go to trial before the general election, that is the issue.  …

Freshly arraigned Trump cries “Persecution!”

“Well, this is a very sad day for America and it was also very sad driving through Washington, DC and seeing the decay and all of the broken buildings and walls and the graffiti.  This is not the place that I left.  It’s a very sad thing to see it.  When you look at what’s happening, this is a persecution of a political opponent.  This was never supposed to happen in America.  This is the persecution of the person that leading by very, very substantial numbers in the Republican primary and leading Biden by a lot, so if you can’t beat ‘im, you persecute him or you prosecute him.  We can’t let this happen in America.”

First, notice how Trump never asserts his innocence.  It’s always the “persecution” of a political opponent, not that he’s not guilty of what is charged.  Second:  Trump obviously never drove through DC before.  He took helicopters while he was president–except for his jaunt around Walter Reed when he had Covid.  DC has a lot of rundown buildings and graffiti.  Normal people know that.
