In one of the few live segments in tonight’s republican National Convention, former South Carolina governor and US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said “President Trump deserves four more years.”
“We stood up for America,” Haley claimed, “and we stood against our enemies. Obama and Biden let North Korea threaten America. President Trump rejected that weakness and we passed the toughest sanctions on North Korea in history.”
Fact check:
Haley mentioned Trump breaking the multinational nuclear accord with Iran and moving the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Haley never mentioned Russia or Putin once.
Haley claimed Trump “tells the world what it needs to hear.” [Fact check: Trump told the world that he believes Putin and Russia, not our intelligence agencies or our foreign allies.]
Haley also stated, “At home, the president is the clear choice on jobs and the economy.” [Fact check: Under Trump’s administration, the US has lost a net 6 million jobs and 2nd quarter 2020 GDP growth was the lowest since the Great Depression.]
“There’s one more important area where our president is right: he knows that political correctness and cancel culture are dangerous and just plain wrong,” Haley stated, ignorant to the fact that just last week, Trump tried to Goodyear as he did NBC, the NFL, Bubba Wallace and scores of other things he thought made him look bad.
“In much of the Democratic Party, it’s fashionable to say that America is racist,” Haley said. “That is a lie. America is not a racist country.” [Fact check: Majority of US voters say America is racist.]
NOTES: Haley committed two cardinal sins for republicans. She referred to the political opposition as the Democratic Party and she acknowledged that “America is not perfect.”
