Trump economic advisor who isn’t an economist Peter Navarro called the FBI agents who arrested him for contempt of Congress “Nazis” when they took him into custody at Reagan National Airport on Friday, Politico reports.

In another sign of conservative contempt for law enforcement, Navarro called the FBI agents “kind Nazis” and asked “How could you live with yourselves?”  According to the 302 report of the arrest, Navarro had complained that the handcuffs caused pain in an injured shoulder, which the agents accommodated by adding another pair cuffs to ease the shoulder strain.  Navarro then complained that his left cuff was too tight, so an agent loosened it, like the Nazis would.

Navarro has claimed that he was prevented from calling an attorney, but the 302 shows that Navarro was offered the opportunity and told the agents he was going to represent himself.  He did, however, want to call a television producer to advise him that he would not be able to appear as scheduled… because priorities.

“NAVARRO said words to the effect, ‘do I get to make a call?’ SA Giardina asked, ‘do you have an attorney you’d like to call? What is the name of your attorney?'” the 302 states.  “NAVARRO replied, ‘I’m supposed to be on live television tonight. I’d like to call the producer and tell him I’m not going to be there. Can I have my phone?'”  He was not permitted to call his producer, and he declined to name an attorney he wanted called.

At around noon, Navarro was provided a bottle of water and some trail mix.  He was asked if he wanted anything else to eat and he declined; this directly contradicts Navarro’s statement that he was denied food and water during his arrest.  Two hours after his arrest, Navarro was taken to court, where he was granted bail.
