More than 18.7 million viewers watched the first night of the Democratic National Convention on traditional television stations according to “overnight” ratings, not including streaming services or delayed broadcasts, reports AdWeek.com.
Across six Nielsen-measured English broadcast and cable networks (CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NBC, ABC and CBS), the live viewership numbers were only for the last hour of the convention, which started at 10 p.m. ET.
MSNBC, which broadcast both hours of the convention, recorded 5.1 million viewers, leading all broadcast and cable networks. The three major networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) saw an average of 2.2 million viewers each.
