The reason that House leadership extended the chamber’s vacation another week by designating October 7 through the 13th as a “district work period” is because, per Punchbowl’s Jake Sherman, they don’t want Republican members “in DC doing nothing. A new KFF survey finds that, after actually being informed of what the ACA subsidies are and that this is why the Dems forced a shutdown, 78 percent of respondents support extending them.

An air force base in eastern Belgium went on high alert Thursday night as at least several drones of unknown origin entered the restricted area, just around the same time as a more widely-reported incursion into Munich, Germany’s international airport, halting air traffic, CBS News reports.

A Belgian official familiar with the matter confirmed to CBS that drones had been sighted over Elsenborn military base, on which only their forces are stationed though other installations in the country host personnel from the US and other NATO members. The official did not have an exact count though they’re working to review their data. Also unclear is why somebody didn’t at least just try to shoot one of the fucking things down to recover it for examination and find its provenance.

Tennessee GOP chair Scott Golden was running as far away from it as he could, telling the station “We’ve had a few calls to the office regarding the mailer… It wasn’t coming from the Tennessee Republican Party, even though it certainly referenced us… It was done with an Austin [Texas] postmark,” adding “We’re not going to be sitting around trying to figure out who’s voted and who’s not voted. We never color outside those lines during the election process, so I mean, clearly, in this case, somebody has; and if you’ve broken the law, I think you should be held accountable.” Stop laughing that a state GOP chair would say that last bit. Anyway there’s been some murmuring about this special in Tennessee’s 7th, even though now-former Congressman/most likely still currently into boning women his daughter’s age dude Mark Green won it by 21 percent last year, murmurs that it may not exactly be safe. That Jeff Yass shitbag went and pumped $10 million into some PAC with bailiwick the seat just two days after Green had announced his resignation but weeks before he’d actually effected it in July, setting off this primary.

Russ “MAGAlbert Speer” Vought on Friday announced the Trump Regime was pulling $2.1 billion in congressionally-appropriated funds “specifically the Red Line Extension and the Red and Purple Modernization Project” adding that the move is to “ensure funding is not flowing via race-based contracting” as though he actually needed to state any kind of made-up bullshit reason for it.

Dems need to add this to the list of demands to end the shutdown. Specifically naming Vought ambassador to Palau and handing the debit card back to Congress. No more of this shit.

Sources tell the Wall Street Journal that convicted felon President Trump and his minions are, somewhat surprisingly, actually cognizant that the Obamacare subsidies they stupidly killed off in the Big Beautiful Piece of Shit they rammed through in July are a real political liability even while they lie their way through this shutdown that Dems started specifically to force their restoration.

A statue depicting convicted felon President Trump and his now-deceased sex-trafficker pal Jeffrey Epstein holding hands and skipping merrily reappeared on DC’s National Mall in front of the Capitol this week following its unceremonious September 24th removal, NBC News reports.

The statue, titled “Best Friends Forever,” and featuring a plaque reading “In honor of friendship month, we celebrate the long-standing bond between President Donald J Trump and his closest friend Jeffrey Epstein,” was installed by a group called “The Secret Handshake.” The first time it was installed was via a lawful permit filed with and granted by the National Park Service – who then said they’d yanked it over some red tape-y “compliance” reason – but it’s not clear what if anything about the statue has been changed or if there’s even been a permit granted for its return to the spot.

The 33 year-old son of deceased Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe was arrested Wednesday after being caught with a whopping two grams of marijuana in his vehicle, the BBC reports.

Or maybe it was 0.2 grams. There’s a discrepancy in the arrest report. What is known is that Robert Mugabe Jr was stopped for driving the wrong way down a one-way street in the small African country’s capital city of Harare. Cops then said in a statement that five people in a “syndicate linked to him” were also arrested but it’s not clear if this was actually at the scene of the traffic stop.

Those five suspects were found to be in possession of 25 bags of marijuana and six ecstasy pills, but again, further details as to the nature of this “syndicate” were not available. What is clear however is that the Mugabe family has had a mixed relationship with the current Zimbabwean regime led by the old man’s former top lieutenant, Emmerson Mnangagwa. The Mugabes had accused Mnangagwa of betraying Robert, who ruled for 37 years until he was forced to resign at age 93 in 2017 and then died two years later. Widow Grace Mugabe had aimed to succeed her husband but was sidelined by Mnangagwa’s minions in some kind of soft palace coup.

Bobby Jr did however in 2022 speak at a rally in support of Mnangagwa’s party in what was billed as a public reconciliation. Guess that was kind of like a George P Bush moment that went nowhere.

Former Texas MAGAchurch Pastor Robert Morris, who served on convicted felon President Trump’s “spiritual advisory council” during his first campaign in 2016 and until June 2024 led the large Gateway Church chain of congregations – and, per Morris’s lawyer, had in 2007 told molestation victim Cindy Clemishire she was the one who had “initiated inappropriate behavior” by entering his guest room “and getting in bed with him,” on Christmas in 1980 when Clemshire was 12 and Morris was 20 or 21 and he had been staying with her family in Oklahoma – pleaded guilty Thursday to five counts of lewd and indecent acts with a child after evading accountability for decades, CNN reports.

Morris was sentenced to 10 years, all but six months of it suspended, and will register as a sex offender for the rest of his miserable life. He leaves behind a now-steadily collapsing set of congregations that once boasted of attendance in the hundreds of thousands at multiple churches.
