“Earlier today, the Committee notified Senator Menendez through his counsel that members voted unanimously to initiate an adjudicatory review of his alleged violations of Senate Rules. The Committee anticipates completing the adjudicatory review promptly. An adjudicatory review is required when the Committee considers disciplinary actions, such as expulsion or censure.”

“The adjudicatory review will be conducted in accordance with Committee Supplementary Rules of Procedure 4 and 5, and Senator Menendez will be afforded the procedural rights he is due under those provisions. At the completion of the adjudicatory review, the Committee will move expeditiously to submit a written report to the Senate including specific findings and any recommendations for disciplinary action,” said the Senate Ethics Committee in a Monday statement.

Weird how “expeditiously” isn’t just literally copying and pasting the fucking indictments against him and then adding “A federal trial jury convicted Menendez on these counts.” Like on one hand we get it that they still want to play by the rules and give Menendez “due process.” On the other, he already got his “due process” in court and a rubber stamp on the indictments should suffice. Having semi-officially secured the top of the ticket late Monday and raised a shit ton of money, there is no question at this point of whether Vice President Kamala Harris will be nominated in the virtual primary still slated for next week – and Politico Playbook notes that before then she’s going to need to make her pick for running mate. Already formal vetting questionnaires have been sent to Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, North Carolina Gov Roy Cooper, and Pennsylvania Gov Josh Shapiro.

“Others, including Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, are in the mix,” Playbook writes, without saying if they’re being vetted. “Some of this is chemistry. She knows, having been VP, what it feels like… Some will require more [vetting] than others,” a Harris ally said.

The headline is an actual quote from a Black Republican, Utah Congressman Burgess Owens, who told Punchbowl News that Vice President Harris is “the greatest example of DEI… For those who believe in DEI, this is exactly what DEI is like. Kamala Harris.” White MAGA Congressman Troy Nehls said he’s “not going to get into all the color stuff. I’m just looking at performance.”

NRCC chair Richard Hudson wouldn’t go there either, saying the DEI line is “certainly not something I’m going to say. I’m going to remain focused on the policies.” Wisconsin MAGA dipshit Glenn Grothman did though, saying on Sunday that Democrats “have to stick with her because of her ethnic background.” When Punchbowl followed up with Grothman to elaborate on what he meant he said simply “I don’t think people view her as Black.” So it’s already going great for the House GOP.

The best they can come up with for now is a non-binding “emergency” resolution “strongly condemning the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border,” being pushed by angry toad New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

Saying that the case should never had been allowed to proceed because it was too old–and besides, the penalty was just too much–multifaceted criminal dullard Donald Trump’s lawyers asked a New York appeals court to throw out the $454 million financial fraud judgment against him, CNN reports.

Trump’s lawyers threw everything at the wall, also claiming that Judge Arthur Engoron made reversible errors in allowing various counts and evidence in the case to remain after, according to them, the statute of limitations had long expired.  They also claim that because no bank or institution claimed fraud, no fraud actually occurred under state law, so the entire case was bogus.

Trump didn’t need to raise the entire amount of the judgment to appeal after the court ruled he only needed to put up $146 million. He was able to get a wealthy supporter to post a bond.   Luckily, Trump still has the GoFundMe started by his cult, which has been stuck at $2 million in donations for weeks.

A fairly typical story is emerging in New Orleans:  two police officers were injured–including one who reported broke his leg–while apprehending a 34-year-old man suspected of cutting off his 70-year-0ld mother’s arm with a chainsaw, according to WVUE Fox 8 in New Orleans.  Y’know, fairly typical, “Holy shit, what a world we live in.  That’s fucked up.”

The most interesting detail is buried in the story:  the newly one-armed woman fled to get help from a relative who lived three miles away.  No word on how she arrived at the relative’s house:  walked, biked, Uberred.  Maybe she took the bus, pulling the cord for the stop with her remaining arm.  Did she drive?  And if so, we can assume it wasn’t a stick shift.

Vice President Kamala Harris is now the presumptive Democratic nominee for president having accepted the mantle from retiring President Joe Biden.  Harris secured the majority of votes for the  National Convention according to a survey of delegates by the Associated Press reported by the Washington Post.  As of Monday, 2,214 delegates from at least three dozen states said they would vote for Harris to be the Party’s nominee; just 1,976 are needed.

Records indicate Ivanka donated $2,000 to Harris’s reelection fund in 2014–one year after Daddy gave a second donation to Harris’s campaign fund in 2013.  As former RNC chair Michael Steele noted, it was one of Donald Trump’s few good investments.

Democratic strategist, former White House Chief of Staff, and the leader of Joe Biden’s successful 2020 Jen O’Malley Dillon will lead designated successor Kamala Harris’s effort to win the Party nomination and ultimately the White House, continuing in the role she played with the Biden campaign, the Washington Post reports.

That doesn’t mean, however, that changes won’t be made.  Advisors are pushing Harris to bring in seasoned campaign advisors to supplement the team Biden had and the members of her staff from the campaign Harris will want to promote.  One name being mentioned:  David Plouffe, who led Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.

As Vice President Kamala Harris continues to pile up delegate commitments from those previously committed to incumbent President Joe Biden, the Democratic National Committee is reportedly considering scheduling a virtual roll call vote next week to solidify Harris’s nomination, Politico reports.  Harris reportedly has already secured 1,407 delegates; to win the nomination, she needs to get 1,976.

Working with the Convention Rules Committee, the Democratic Party is prepared to shift the nominating portion of the Convention to an electronic format to ensure that our Democratic nominees for President and Vice President are certified before state ballot access deadlines,” Democratic National Committee chair Jaime Harrison and Rules Committee co-chair Minyon Moore wrote in a memo, according to the Washington Post, which reports Party insiders working to avoid a contested convention in August.

In the largest single day in ActBlue’s history, newly-assumed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris raised $241 million dollars from donors in all categories since incumbent President Joe Biden announced he would not longer seek the nomination, the New York Daily News reports.

Harris raised nearly $50 million from small-dollar donors after Biden’s announcement.  ActBlue, the Democratic fundraising organization, reported the busiest day in its history:  at 7 p.m. ET, it reported raising $27 million; by 9:30 p.m. that amount had jumped to $46.7 million.  On Monday, the campaign announced it had raised more than $80 million in small-dollar donations in the first 24 hours.

That combines with $150 million committed by the so-called big-money donors and an estimated $95 million already in the Biden-Harris campaign account to give Harris a formidable war chest going into the election.

Sources within the Trump campaign “have aired out” to ABC News “frustrations surrounding new advertisement and messaging strategies” now necessary after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid and Veep Kamala Harris became the presumptive nominee, echoing the fat bastard’s ridiculous complaint that someone owes the RNC money for all that they spent on Biden attack ads.

Thanks to various unjustified vaccine phobias and skepticism, only one in three kindergarten classes in Arizona’s public and private schools have sufficient “herd immunity” to fend off the spread of measles through the student populations if a student gets infected with the virus, the Arizona Republic reports.

Nearly 33% of private schools reported sufficient populations of students being inoculated, while public school rates surpassed 35%.  Just 17% of charter schools in the state reported having a high enough percentage of kindergarteners vaccinated against measles.

The US Supreme Court on Monday ordered the State of New York to respond by Wednesday to Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey’s moronic lawsuit over “election interference” for prosecuting convicted felon former President Trump, John Solomon’s shitty website reports.

What this actually means – as in whether its standard procedure or if Los Supremos are actually entertaining this stupid bullshit – we don’t know. State on state lawsuits are the only instance in which the Supreme Court becomes a trial court and in a trial court a defendant has to make some sort of initial response to a complaint, no matter how frivolous and ball-sucking it may be.
