Trump’s “correction” here is actually partially supported by reporting by Axios’s Jonathan Swan, who in a January episode of the “How it happened” podcast detailed how Trump lost confidence in Barr in June 2020 during the riots following the murder of George Floyd, but held off on firing him because of the upcoming election.
