The gunman who threatened the Cincinnati FBI field office before leading police on a 50-mile pursuit and was subsequently killed by Ohio law enforcement agents after an hours-long standoff has been identified by the New York Times as 42-year-old Ricky Walter Shiffer.

Lt. Nathan Dennis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said officers attempted to use less-than-lethal tactics and equipment to coax Shiffer to surrender as he held off officers, but when he aimed his assault rifle at officers, at least one opened fire, killing him.

A review of his social media accounts show Shiffer was at a rally at Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, DC the night before the January 6th Republican-led domestic terrorist attack on Congress; it’s unclear if he participated in the attack, but he had not been charged by federal investigators tracking down the miscreants. 

Shiffer appears to be connected with the ultra-nationalist domestic terrorist group The Proud Boys.  “Save ammunition, get in touch with the Proud Boys and learn how they did it in the Revolutionary War, because submitting to tyranny while lawfully protesting was never the American way,” he posted on Twitter.

In a reply to a different tweet which showed people breaching the Capitol, Shiffer appears to imply that the people who attacked and entered the building were not Trump supporters, but members of another group:  “I was there,” the message read. “We watched as your goons did that.”

From Spartan:  And, holy fucking shit, Travis View of the QAnon Anonymous podcast found what appears to be Schiffer’s Truth Social account. The last post says “Well, I thought I had a way through bullet proof glass, and I didn’t. If you don’t hear from me, it is true I tried attacking the FBI, and it’ll mean either I was taken off the internet, the FBI got me, or they sent the regular cops while” at 9:29 AM on Thursday, which is around the time when his little misadventure started.
