Ukrainian officials on Wednesday said their forces have continued to make gains in territories just earlier in the day that were officially annexed by Russia, the Kyiv Independent reports. “The de-occupation of Luhansk Oblast has begun,” wrote Luhansk Regional Military–Civil Administration Governor Serhiy Haidai on Telegram Wednesday, reporting that a further six villages in the Kremlin-claimed region had been recaptured. Keep in mind this isn’t territory lost by Kyiv earlier this year, but occupied by Russia since 2014, which should show how serious the Ukrainian momentum is.
