A federal jury began deliberating the case against Igor Danchenko in Alexandria, Virginia on Monday, deciding whether MAGA lawman John Durham made his case that the private researcher lied to the FBI in an interview during an investigation into the source behind information about disgraced former President Trump’s ties to Russia, the Washington Post reports.
The trial has gone not so great for Durham as he got frustrated with one of his own witnesses during testimony and one of the five charges against Danchenko was tossed last week. That combined with the acquittal of Dem lawyer Michael Sussman in May raises the stakes of the verdict if Durham wants almost literally anything to show for his long and pointless investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation which consumed pretty much the entire first half of his presidency before he got impeached and then the COVID pandemic hit.
